Today, Ceemet participated in an insightful discussion on AI and its implications for the future of work organised by CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) in the frame of GPAI project. Our exchange focused on three critical areas: 👉 Perception of GenAI in #Europe: We explored how generative AI is perceived across Europe—whether as a threat or an opportunity—and examined its prominence on the policy agenda. 👉 Understanding GenAI's Potential: European policymakers and stakeholders are making efforts to assess both the opportunities and potential threats of generative #AI, aiming for a balanced approach to its integration into the workforce. 👉 GenAI Policies in Europe: We discussed the focus of current and proposed policies on generative AI, examining how they aim to harness AI's potential while addressing challenges. We are committed to staying at the forefront of these developments to ensure that the interests and perspectives of Europe's metal, engineering, and technology-based industries are well-represented.

Ahead of the 4th meeting of the European Labour Authority Forum on the posting of workers to be held on 22 October 2024, Ceemet co-signed with BusinessEurope, ECEG - European Chemical Employers Group, FIEC EU and World Employment Confederation a statement on the Report on the application and implementation of the Posting Directive. The employers’ associations want to reiterate their support for the work of the ELA and highlight : • the need to continue monitoring the implementation of the Posting of Workers Directive, • the need to put in place a practical tool to support companies in determining the remuneration applicable to posted workers with all its mandatory elements (the so-called remuneration calculator”), • the necessity to improve the information available on the terms and conditions of employment for posted workers. and • their support for the initiative on e-Declaration as a universal tool to be used on a voluntary basis by the Member States. #ELA #posting of workers #labour mobility #competitiveness https://lnkd.in/ej74v3K6

Very interesting exchange of ideas with the partners of the SkiLMeeT project on how to tackle skills & labour shortages. No one-size-fit all approach but rather a wide range of solutions for this crucial challenge for our member companies.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the SkiLMeeT roundtable "Skills and Labour Shortages in Europe” last week. We had a great discussion on the pressing challenges of today’s labour markets, which will help us fine-tune our research so it can better serve policymakers in addressing skills gaps and mismatches. Our experts shared many thought-provoking insights with us. Here are our key takeaways: 🔹 Europe faces deepening labour shortages due to an ageing population and declining workforce 🔹 Green and technological changes are fuelling skills shortages and we need precise data on their scale as well as tools that will help us predict skills needs. Hence, we need to strengthen our efforts in improving data, and collaborate on initiatives that help us gather more of it 🔹 Migration is not the only solution to labour shortages. Active market policies are needed to activate people who remain outside the labour market 🔹 There is significant potential for emerging technologies, particularly AI, to alleviate labour shortages and improve job quality. However, immediate investments in digital skills are necessary to fully leverage this potential 🔹 Long-term retention of skilled workers is essential. On 3rd & 4th October 2024 Ceemet actively participated in the TRIREME partnership meeting held in Milan. This was the occasion for the partners to exchange information regarding the state of play of the different work packages and the work achieved so far. Ceemet - European Tech & Industry Employers and industriAll Europe are leading work-package 6 that deals with the social transformation of the #automotive mobility ecosystem in the context of the #twintransition. Against this background, the MET #socialpartners updated the partners on the work carried out until then, including the desk research report and the ongoing compilation of good practices as regards un-skilling and re-skilling initiatives. #Skills #Competitivness Furthermore, they also referred to the first social partner workshop that will be held in Brussels on 4th December 2024.
