📣 Today, the European Commission has sent a request for information (RFI) to #Temu under the Digital Services Act, requesting the platform to provide by 21 October 2024: ✅ detailed information and internal documents on the mitigation measures taken against the presence and reappearance of traders selling illegal products on its marketplace, as well as risks relating to consumer protection, public health and users' wellbeing ✅ details on its recommender systems and the risk to the protection of users' personal data. E-commerce : la France se distingue alors que l'Europe s'apprête à signer sa meilleure année depuis 2021 Ecommerce Europe et EuroCommerce publient ce 10 octobre leur rapport annuel des ventes en ligne. 🤓 Bilan ? - En 2024, les ventes e-commerce B2C en Europe renouent avec la croissance depuis la fin de l'ère covid. Selon les chiffres prévisionnels, la croissance devrait atteindre 8%, ajustée à 5% en incluant les effets de l'inflation, contre un déclin de 3 et 6% respectivement en 2023 et 2022. -Au sein de l'Europe de l'Ouest (64% du CA e-commerce), la France fait partie des pays les plus dynamiques : le CA du e-commerce en France a cru de 10,5% pour atteindre 160 milliards d'euros en 2023 vs un déclin de 1% pour l'Europe de l'Ouest avec un CA de 596 milliards d'euros. 💡 Autre élément notable, les consommateurs français sont particulièrement friands des marchands étrangers à l'UE. As outlined in the Letta Report on the Single Market, cutting red tape for SMEs is essential for fostering growth and innovation. VAT harmonisation will be key to achieving this goal. For this reason, Ecommerce Europe supports the work of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU on prioritising the negotiations on VAT in the Digital Age to ensure that the Single VAT Registration pillar becomes a reality. This initiative is critical for facilitating VAT compliance across the EU and reducing the regulatory burden on SMEs engaged in cross-border business. We look forward to seeing ViDA featured in the agenda of 5 November ECOFIN with a view to an agreement of all EU27 Countries on this important package.
