The City Moonshot team joined the ‘NMS: Catalyst for Solutions’ event, organised by the CIVITAS Initiative, during the #EURegionsWeek2024. John Paddington and Martina Ferrara Snider participated in the thoughtful discussion about the challenges to innovation in urban mobility, including fragmented governance, political instability, and slow procurement. During the session, practical solutions were debated, such as establishing innovation directorates, implementing long-term strategies like Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (#SUMPs), and encouraging public-private partnerships. Other discussed solutions included adopting small-scale pilot projects and simplifying procurement processes to create more favourable conditions for innovation. By addressing these challenges and fostering trust in data sharing, City Moonshot helps cities unlock the full potential of new mobility services (NMS), aligning with the broader goals of EU cohesion policy. #CityMoonshot continues to build a knowledge ecosystem for cities and regions to make mobility smarter and more sustainable, aligning with EU cohesion goals.
