As part of the meeting, Fernando led a workshop, focusing on identified inconsistencies across regulations dealing with freight and logistics decarbonisation. The discussions addressed inconsistencies in current legislation that need to be addressed including: 🔹 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 to improve methodology consistency and boundaries definition of the scopes 🔹 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of how legislation defines emissions factor methodologies 🔹 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 across different regulations 🔹 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀, hindering long-term decarbonisation strategies These challenges impact businesses and policy makers striving for accurate emissions reporting and effective emission reduction strategies. The involvement of regulators is essential to ensure that methodologies commonly used in voluntary schemes are embraced by regulatory developments to support emissions reduction efforts while remaining pragmatic and applicable. We appreciate the insights from all participants and particular ALICE members Smart Freight Centre, PNO Innovation (Spain), GreenRouter and Ecotransit NSW. Look forward to translating CLEVER findings into smart policies. Do you agree with these identified gaps? Do you have additional insights or examples you would like to share with us?
