Urgent Call: Prioritize Nursing and #HealthcareProfessionals Challenges in the Next EU Mandate. Our sincere thanks to Commissioner-Designate, on the yesterdaey evening hearing, for his thoughtful response on Europe’s pressing health issues. Yet, one essential element is still missing—the challenges facing #nurses and #HealthCareProfessionals. Europe’s #healthcare systems are reaching a breaking point, largely due to severe #nurseshortages, lack of support on #NurseWelbeing, and limited incentives for those dedicating their lives to care. And lets face it, in the European aging, we will need more dedicated, competent and qualified #NursesProfessionals. The impact is global: as Europe recruits healthcare staff from countries already struggling with #HealthWorkforceShortages, this scarcity is compounded worldwide. It’s critical for political parties and their representatives to address these challenges in upcoming hearings. Without decisive action, healthcare workforce shortages will only worsen, threatening the stability of health systems. While we respect the principle of subsidiarity, this is an issue of EU-wide significance. We call on the next European Commission to create a dedicated forum or platform and we need a clear commitment from Europe and is leaders to address workforce challenges and establish sustainable solutions in healthcare, and recognis that Nurse #careerperspectives with #education, #recognition of achievemnte have a position in the next mandate. We acknowledge the importance of the pharmaceutical and medtech industries in healthcare, but we must also recognize the 100% reliance of healthcare professionals on these sectors—and the impact this dependency has on #PatientCare what goes further than #competitatives. Let’s ensure that the next mandate strengthens healthcare resilience and prepares Europe to meet future health challenges with a robust and supported workforce. #NursesMatter is what we hear, but hard to believe when not echoed in the next #CommissionMandate, and we encourage all to put all within their ability to . 🥐 Yesterday, we had the honour of organising a breakfast meeting with MEPs Andras Kulja MD and Elena Nevado del Campo, along with key healthcare stakeholders, to highlight the indispensable role of specialist and advanced nurses in shaping a resilient, high-quality European healthcare system. Together, we emphasised the need for an EU-wide framework that ensures specialist nurses receive the #recognition, #certification, #continuous learning, and #mentorship needed to thrive. Beyond advancing skills, this framework would also prioritise #safe working conditions, #mental health and support career #growth for these frontline professionals. Protecting their well-being and ensuring safe working environments must be top priorities. 🇪🇺 A European framework that upholds both the #professional and #personal welfare of our nurses will pave the way for more inclusive, #empowering #workplaces. As Europe faces ongoing healthcare challenges, we urge policymakers to support us in finding and implementing the solutions to these issues. Together, we can build a strong, #resilient and #unified #healthcare workforce capable of delivering the highest #standards of #care. 🙏 We thank all participants for their commitment to this critical discussion and look forward to continuing the conversation at our upcoming event in January (more details to follow soon!). #EUHealthcare #NursingExcellence #HealthcareHeroes #HealthcareQuality #RespectForNurses #EUHealthcare #breakfastmeeting Health First Europe EUREGHA - European Regional and Local Health Authorities EHMA - European Health Management Association EUPHA - European Public Health Association The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) Viatris Adriano Friganović Ber Oomen Tihana Gašpert Panagiota Tsikala J. 🌅 Starting the Day Right: Breakfast, Connection, and a Shared Vision for #SpecialistNursing in Europe 🌅 This morning, the ESNO team kicked off an inspiring day by connecting with MEPs Andras Kulja MD and Elena Nevado del Campo over breakfast. It was more than breakfast —it was a powerful conversation focused on one of healthcare’s most pressing issues: building a robust, respected workforce of specialist nurses across Europe. Before the croissants even arrived, we were already deep in conversation, diving into the “hot potato” of workforce challenges that others might shy away from. But together, with our MEP allies and partners, we’re ready to tackle these issues head-on. Our message was clear: Europe needs strong, collaborative efforts to sustain healthcare quality, and specialist nurses are at the heart of this mission. This isn’t just about fair salaries; it’s about elevating specialist nursing to a respected, quality-driven profession. This morning’s gathering was only the beginning. With strong alliances, shared goals, and a true sense of partnership, we’re building the foundation for a healthcare workforce that Europe can depend on. Stay tuned for our next important day (January) —and take a moment to hear from our President in the video below. #HealthcareQuality #RespectForNurses #EUHealthcare #breakfastmeeting Health First Europe EUREGHA - European Regional and Local Health Authorities EHMA - European Health Management Association EUPHA - European Public Health Association The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) Viatris Adriano Friganović Ber Oomen Tihana Gašpert Panagiota Tsikala J.
