🚀 What is needed to establish innovation?

🌍 International Women’s Day 2025 – A Tribute to the Backbone of Healthcare 🌍 "In nursing, standards define us". Female nurses —who form the largest professional group in Europe—set the benchmark for professionalism, evidence-based care, and ethical leadership every day. It’s not about attitudes; it’s about science, education, and harmonized expertise, ensuring high-quality healthcare for all. At a time of geopolitical tensions, social instability, and global health challenges, the females in the nursing profession remain a stabilizing force. Across borders, nurses apply their skills and knowledge in a harmonized, evidence-based way, ensuring continuity of care even in times of crisis. ➡️ When nurses act according to shared standards, we create: Stronger, more resilient health systems with female nurse lead ➡️ Better global health preparedness and crisis response, with female nurse lead ➡️ A workforce equipped to tackle challenges like infection prevention, vaccination, and antimicrobial resistance with female nurse lead The Crucial Role of Women in Bridge-Building History has shown that many of today’s geopolitical tensions and conflicts—which disrupt healthcare, economies, and societies—have been triggered by male-dominated decision-making processes. In contrast, women have consistently been bridge-builders, healers, and stabilizers. Nurses, the majority of whom are women, play a critical role in: 📌 Rebuilding trust and stability in healthcare and communities 📌 Driving collaboration across borders through science and education 📌 Advocating for patient safety, public health, and sustainable policies 📌 Ensuring a fair and equitable health workforce "Beyond Care: Women as Changemakers in Healthcare" Despite being the largest professional group in Europe, nurses—especially female nurses—are still #underrepresented in leadership and policy-making. If we truly want a more sustainable, equitable, and peaceful future, we must recognize and empower women in nursing and healthcare leadership. On this International Women’s Day, let’s go beyond celebration. Let’s actively champion the recognition, engagement, and leadership of nurses—ensuring their expertise is heard, valued, and acted upon in shaping the future of healthcare. To all the female nurses and healthcare professionals: Your standards shape the future of healthcare—and beyond. 👌 Keep leading. 👌 Keep inspiring. 👌 Keep setting the bar high. #InternationalWomensDay #NursesLead #WomenInLeadership #NursingExcellence #WomenInHealthcare #StrongerTogether #PeaceThroughHealthcare #BridgeBuilders European Commission European Parliament Tilly Metz Hadja Lahbib

  • ESNO is pleased joining the OECD PaRIS Initiative: Elevating Patient Voices in Healthcare. For too long, healthcare performance has been measured primarily by inputs and processes rather than by its real impact on people’s lives. The OECD Patient-Reported Indicator Surveys (PaRIS) initiative is changing that by capturing the lived experiences of individuals aged 45+ with chronic conditions—giving us critical insights into how healthcare truly delivers for patients. With over 100,000 patients across 1,500 primary care practices in 19 countries, PaRIS provides a groundbreaking international dataset that highlights the realities of healthcare delivery, independent of gender, income, or education. We strongly believe that this initiative will help reshape primary care models, ensuring that they better serve the needs of those who rely on them most. As ESNO, European Specialist Nurses Organisation, we are committed to integrating these insights into nursing practice. #SpecialistNurses in all health domains, play a pivotal role in contextual chronic care management and patient-centered healthcare, and understanding patient experiences is key to improving care models. Our participation in PaRIS event underscores our dedication to #EvidenceBased practice, patient advocacy, and healthcare innovation. Together, we can shift healthcare measurement from processes to people, from systems to experiences. Let’s use data to drive meaningful change! #ESNO #NursingLeadership #PaRIS #OECD #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCentricCare #ChronicCare #NursesLeadingChange Dr Adriano Friganović, FESNO, FFNMRCSI Alessandro Stievano Alicia San José
