It’s not always clear to consumers what repairs or adjustments were actually made to the products they buy. 🤔 So how good is "as good as new"? 🗨️ "58% of consumers said they weren’t informed about the changes carried out. There’s clearly an information gap that needs addressing,” says Olivia Brown from euroconsumers. Rewatch our #StartTalking webinar 👉 https://lnkd.in/e_yqSikd and discover insights from the Euroconsumers survey 👉https://lnkd.in/eKzxxiqk on consumer perspectives on refurbished goods.

👏 We welcome the news that the European Commission has opened formal proceedings to investigate whether #Temu may have breached the Digital Services Act (#DSA). Safety tests conducted by #Euroconsumers found evidence of mediocre-quality, poorly labeled products containing harmful materials or ingredients, proving that low prices often mean low safety and little respect for EU laws. 👉https://lnkd.in/eGg6j6fM ❗ All online platforms should know that no matter how fast the delivery or how low the prices, 🛡️ safety comes first.

📱 Buying refurbished the right thing to do! But according to Ugo Vallauri Co-director from The Restart Project, we should prioritise using what we have for as long as possible. 🗨️ “The vast majority of a product's environmental impact occurs before you ever switched it on.” Make sure to check out our #StartTalking webinar and listen to our lively debate!👉https://lnkd.in/e_yqSikd

🥁 And that's a wrap! Thank you for joining us today for our #StartTalking webinar where we discussed the rise of refurbished goods. Be sure to catch up on the event summary below, and remember, you can rewatch the webinar anytime by clicking here 👉https://lnkd.in/e_yqSikd Olivia Brown: "People genuinely want to choose more sustainable options, but the challenge is that sustainability often comes at a higher price, making it a difficult choice." Sepp Eisenriegler: "We live in a growth-driven economy, where some big manufacturers shorten product lifespans to survive. This leads to increasing resource use and emissions, which isn’t necessary because we don’t need to invent anything new." Ugo Vallauri: "From an environmental perspective, refurbishing goods is crucial. The majority of a product's environmental impact occurs long before it's ever switched on." Paul Anton Ploberger: "I think the real question isn’t repair versus refurbishment; it’s us versus new." Moderated by Liz Coll
