Consumers are willing, but need to be empowered to eat more #plantbased foods. We’ve got you covered! 🍽️ You may be familiar with the traditional food pyramid from school, however, this can be confusing and more and more nutrition societies around the world are adopting a plate model instead. Therefore, we’re thrilled to unveil our new ProVeg Plant-Based Food Plate, which helps anyone plan a healthy plant-based meal, whether following a flexitarian, vegetarian or vegan diet! In an inspiring TED Talk, Sarah Lake highlights an important fact: consumers need to be empowered to shift towards plant-based diets, and addressing affordability needs to be part of the solution. A recent study on #EU agricultural subsidies (https://lnkd.in/dTy_QuQf) found that the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (#CAP) is not always allocated where it’s most needed. The study emphasizes the importance of redirecting subsidies towards more environmentally-friendly practices as a critical step in creating a sustainable food system. That's why we’re urging EU institutions and Member States to prioritize the transition to a sustainable food system during this mandate. A dedicated plant-based food action plan is essential for meaningful change. It's great to see people realize that what we eat is less about what we choose and more about what others - in companies and governments - are choosing for us. This clip highlights this shocking reality, evident in the fact that a pound of ground beef in the US would cost $30 without any subsidies. What if instead of making meat artificially cheap and widely we available, we did the same for sustainable, healthy plant-rich options?
