EUROPEAN NETWORK OF OUTDOOR SPORTS

Just wrapped up an insightful discussion at the @World Trail Network conference in Ottawa CA, sharing the stage with some visionary minds from the outdoor tech community: @Paul Wilson, Hartmut Wimmer, @Pedro Pedrosa, and Fabien Biver from Visorando 🥾 We dived into how Private Public Partnerships like Outdoorvision and other technical innovations can become powerful resources to not only improve trail sustainability but also bridge the gap between outdoor participants, businesses, and public entities managing and protecting nature. One of the key elements of the message I delivered was that our ability to harness the power of the outdoor community to become stewards of the environment relies on fostering genuine dialogue between these diverse communities. Each stakeholder—whether it’s the outdoor tech platforms with their unrivaled capacity for innovation and community building, environmental agencies like EUROPARC Federation with their deep expertise in managing ecological sensitivities, or outdoor management authorities with their power to facilitate collaboration—has a vital role to play to ensure long term sustainability and access to natures. This is where the real work begins and this is a challenging road. We need to create the conditions for a fair dialogue to make these synergies across all levels. To ensure we remain well-coordinated on our goals and approaches, we need to bring more people to the table, structure the dialogue and expand the conversation across all key stakeholders. 🌱 With deep humility and great optimism, I am honored to announce my election as the new Chairman of ENOS the EUROPEAN NETWORK OF OUTDOOR SPORTS at the Outdoor Sports EuroMeet last week in Lecco, Italy. I want to extend a special thanks to Mike McClure and Francois BEAUCHARD, former chairpersons whose commitment has left a lasting mark on ENOS. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has dedicated their time, energy, and passion to building ENOS into what it is today and for pushing it forward over the last decade. To the board, thank you for placing your trust in me—I'm truly honored to stand beside such dedicated and brilliant minds. 🙏 🌍 In case you weren't aware, ENOS is more than just a network. It is a living, breathing community that represents the broad outdoor sports sector across Europe at a strategic level. We bring together stakeholders and experts with a mission to advance the sector. Our members are extremely diverse in their approach and this is what makes this network so modern and relevant. 💚 ENOS embodies for me an open, inclusive society, one that feels like a family, where people and nature are at the heart of everything, deeply rooted in the fundamental values of Europe. Leading this network feels like a natural step for me because it aligns so closely with my vision and my passion. 🔮 Looking ahead, one of the key pillars of my vision is to empower our community by creating more opportunities for meaningful engagement—whether through working groups, expert panels, or prioritizing collaboration across sectors. We must step beyond our familiar circles, go beyond the "usual suspects," and embrace diverse perspectives. This diversity will strengthen our ability to make a real, lasting impact. 🤝 As Chairman, my responsibility is to ensure that ENOS becomes much more than just another network. It must be a dynamic space where stakeholders come together to exchange best practices, work toward a shared, forward-thinking vision for European society, and address the major societal challenges of our time. Our mission is to future-proof outdoor sports, ensuring they are not only relevant today, but deeply integrated into the future of our societies through sustainable practices, innovation, and inclusive access to nature. 💡 I believe that to make progress, we must break new ground and collaborate across sectors, creating spaces where diverse voices can engage and lead. While we may not solve every challenge overnight, my role is to guide us steadily in the right direction. I invite all of you to follow our journey and engage with us as we work to shape the future of outdoor sports. I look forward to sharing more updates, insights, and news with all of you. Join the Movement for Healthier Lifestyles across #Europe🤸♀️   In May, partners of the Healthy Lifestyles for Europe project (HL4EU) launched its Call for Action seeking to promote greater cross-sectoral collaboration to tackle NCDs, to improve public health and people’s quality of life.   Key Recommendations of our Call for Action: 🔵Inclusive Approach: Increase EU funding and initiatives, and their accessibility, to support multisectoral collaboration 🟣Community Engagement: Mobilise communities to provide accessible and safe spaces for physical activity 🟢Sustainable Practices: Implement policies to create supportive environments for physical activity, such as urban planning initiatives, transportation policies, and school-based programmes.   We are thrilled to share that the Call for Action is still open for endorsement!
