  • 🚨 EU Imposes Definitive Anti-Dumping Measures on Chinese Glass Fibre Yarns! 🇪🇺🛡️ Glass Fibre Europe welcomes the European Union's decision to impose definitive #antidumping duties of up to 56.1% on imports of #glassfibre #yarns from China. This is a crucial step to restore fair competition, protect local jobs, and strengthen Europe’s strategic value chains. Glass fibre yarns are essential to lightweight material solutions used across key sectors of our economy, including construction, electrical & electronic, transport, energy, industry, aerospace, defence and many more. After a thorough investigation, the European Commission confirmed heavily dumped Chinese imports have been undercutting EU prices and harming domestic producers - and took decisive action. Cédric Janssens, Secretary General of Glass Fibre Europe, praised the move, stating: " With this decision, the European Union has shown that it will not hesitate to defend a level playing field in its market, imposing duties of up to 56.1% to counteract unfair competition. This strong response reaffirms Europe’s commitment to protecting its domestic industries, securing jobs and ensuring the resilience and competitiveness of its strategic sectors." 🛡 Next Steps: While these measures are a big win, strict enforcement is key. We trust the European Commission will ensure full compliance and take action against any attempts to circumvent them. 📌 Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/edbKBi89 #FairTrade #Composites #TradeDefence #EuropeanIndustry

  • 📢 Timeline for the Anti-Dumping Investigation and Duties on Egypt – Bahrain – Thailand 📢 The European Commission has launched a new #antidumping investigation concerning #glassfibre imports from Egypt, Bahrain, and Thailand. We've extracted the key milestones from the official Trade Defence Investigations website while en route to the #JEC (More details here: https://lnkd.in/e6GtKA_V ) 🚄 🔹 17 February 2025 – European Commission opened its anti-dumping investigation. 🔹 Following the opening – EU Member States' customs authorities are instructed by the Commission to register imports of the products under investigation. This will allow provisional measures to be imposed with retroactive effect (to the date of registration).  (More details here: https://lnkd.in/dGHhtwdF ) 🔹 17 September 2025 – This is the date by which the European Commission is expected to propose provisional anti-dumping duties. 🔹 14 March 2026 – The Commission currently expects final measures to come into force by this date. When the final measures are adopted, the Commission will also make a decision about whether to make the provisional duties retroactive to the date of registration. 🔹 Looking ahead – If the measures are absorbed (e.g., export prices drop or resale prices of imported goods do not increase sufficiently), the European Commission may launch an anti-absorption case - potentially doubling the duties, as seen in previous cases in the European glass fibre value chain. 💡 Stay tuned for updates as the case progresses!

  • 📍 One year after the #AntwerpDeclaration, 400 business leaders, industry experts, and worker representatives from across Europe gathered in Antwerp (🙏 Cefic) for the presentation of the newly released #CleanIndustrialDeal by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The glass sectors were well represented by Glass Alliance Europe. The message is clear: Action is needed—now. ⏰ Europe’s #glassfibre industry faces major challenges: 🔹 Unfair #trade competition 🔹 High #energy costs 🔹 Declining #demand 🔹 Heavy #investment requirements to meet regulations To secure Europe’s industrial future, bold and immediate decisions are essential. Glass Fibre Europe stands for the European #glass sectors and the #composites and technical textile value chains, calling for concrete measures to strengthen European industry. It’s time to move from commitment to action. Let’s make it happen! 💪

  • 🚨 Glass Fibre Europe Welcomes EU Anti-Dumping Investigation into Glass Fibre Imports 🛡️ The European Commission has taken a decisive step to protect Europe’s glass fibre industry by launching an anti-dumping investigation into imports from Bahrain, Egypt, and Thailand. This follows a formal complaint by Glass Fibre Europe, highlighting the growing challenge posed by Chinese State-backed producers expanding in these regions. 🗣️ “Our European industry is under increasing attack by Chinese producers, who are aggressively expanding capacities in key sectors such as automotive and wind energy,” said Cédric Janssens, Secretary General of Glass Fibre Europe. “The situation is now critical, with severe price undercutting threatening the short-term viability of EU manufacturers.” 🌍 Why does this matter? European glass fibre producers play a vital role in supporting Europe’s resilience and green transition. From transport and construction to renewable energy and defence, our industry provides lightweight, energy-efficient materials essential for reducing emissions and maintaining Europe’s strategic autonomy. 🔎 What's at stake? ⚠️ Unfair competition and predatory pricing is making Europe’s supply chains extremely vulnerable. Without urgent trade defence measures, EU manufacturers could be forced to cut capacity, delay investments, or relocate outside of Europe—leaving Europe dangerously dependent on Chinese suppliers. 💪 Glass Fibre Europe is encouraged that the European Commission intends to order the registration of imports quickly. We trust the European Commission will take the necessary steps to impose effective measures. • 🔹 Building Europe’s Manufacturing Resilience in Net-Zero Technologies Starts with Processed Materials 🔹 This principle is at the core of our response to the European Commission consultation on its draft lists of Net-Zero Technology (#NZIA) #components. 🔹 Our key message: The NZIA list of components must explicitly include #glassfibre rovings for #windenergy, as Article 3 of the regulation clearly states that processed materials fall within the scope of components. 💡 Why is this crucial? Without glass fibre, there are no wind turbine blades, no nacelles, no hub covers - and ultimately, no wind energy industry. If the aim is to support all actors in the net-zero technology #valuechains, the case for glass fibre is crystal clear.

The main pillars and directions of the EU Clean Industrial Deal are being finalized and arbitrated in the European Commission. 🏭 To help guide this arbitrage, a quick read at the Glass Alliance Europe recommandations can do no harm... quite the contrary in fact! The #Glass industry supports many value chains of critical importance to the European economy. Restoring its #competitiveness to accompany its #decarbonization efforts must receive the right policy attention in the upcoming European communication. 🇪🇺 #Cid #CleanIndustrialDeal
