🗣️“The transition to decarbonised glass will only be successful if it is a shared effort,” says Michael Delle Selve from FEVE – the European Container Glass Federation in a recent interview with Packaging Insights delving into a new report on the industry’s path to decarbonise glass production. To achieve the EU climate goals while positioning glass as a top choice for consumers, we need cross-industry collaborations and tangible actions. Michael Delle Selve outlined how everyone can play their part in this transition: ⚡The industry continues to innovate and invest in cleaner technologies and use of low-carbon energy sources. 🤝Brands and retailers are called upon to enter strategic partnerships and promote the importance of recycling for achieving our circular economy goals. 💰 And governments must provide a supportive regulatory framework that can help accelerate progress. This year marks 50 years of glass recycling in France! Since 1974, glass packaging has been collected, sorted, and recycled, with France now boasting an impressive 81.2% recycling rate. ♻️💚 To celebrate this milestone, Citeo is hosting a special event during the Salon des Maires: "50 ans de Collecte et Recyclage des Emballages en Verre: Bilan et Perspectives." With experts discussing topics such as glass decarbonisation, recycling, and reuse, it’s a moment to reflect on how recycling brings the industry closer to net zero. But if we want to reach net zero, we need even better collection infrastructure and further encourage consumers to properly recycle containers after use. That’s why Close The Glass Loop is bringing together stakeholders from across the value chain to improve collection and recycling rates across Europe. 🔗 Find out more about what you can do to accelerate the road to net zero in our latest industry report: https://lnkd.in/eP5dmmnF #GlassRecycling #Decarbonisation #ChooseGlass #CircularEconomy #CloseTheGlassLoop
