Today a coalition of Europe’s most successful entrepreneurs and investors has launched EU Inc, a timely and groundbreaking initiative to create a single pan-European startup entity. The initiative, outlined in an open letter signed by tech leaders from across Europe, calls for the creation of an ‘EU Inc’ entity under the 28th regime (EU rules offering an alternative to national laws). The new structure would standardise investment processes, simplify cross-border operations, and create a unified employee stock options framework – all of which will help European startups to scale rapidly, attract more capital and have a better chance of becoming a breakout success. I spoke to co-initiators of EU Inc., Andreas Klinger, investor with Prototype Capital and former CTO of Product Hunt and Simon Schaefer, Founder and CEO of Factory and member of the Advisory Board at Allied For Startups and angel investor, to learn more. Nanoscale fully-depleted channels lead to a closing of the memory window. In our latest study lead by Mischa Thesberg from Global TCAD Solutions we have discorved that channels with ambipolar current transport can be leveraged to fight this effect. Today we welcome a new project in our growing community!🎉 With an online meeting held this morning, the CEI-Sphere Coordination and Support Action has officially launched. Building on the legacy of UNLOCK-CEI, CEI-Sphere will work to further grow our community, driving Europe’s journey towards an open, interoperable, and competitive Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystem. At the heart of CEI-Sphere are the Large-Scale Pilots (LSPs), kicking off in January 2025, which will play a pivotal role in defining use cases across critical industries like Energy 💡 . The pilots will be a testbed for the latest cloud-edge innovations but will also contribute to shaping continuous engagement environments, or “spheres,” that we will develop around key industries, while also ensuring sustained collaboration across sectors and with key themes such as open source, data spaces, and standards. 📈 As the global landscape evolves, the pressure is higher than when our joint initiative started 2.5 years ago with the precursor CSAs, but the ecosystem is now more mature. CEI-Sphere is ready to meet these challenges head-on. Our approach will centre around: • Defining LSPs in partnership with industry leaders to reflect real-world needs • Establishing “spheres” that connect the pilots with crucial vertical industries • Aligning with major EU initiatives, including the IPCEI Cloud, the NGI - The Next Generation Internet, the Chips JU, INSTAR Standards, StandICT.eu and of course NexusForum.EU, the other CSA currently co-managing our community. 🔑 Key expected results of this project include: • Delivering a high-level #CEI reference architecture • Producing a comprehensive use-case catalogue and market analysis reports • Developing an innovation ecosystem visualisation tool • Establishing a certification framework to support the long-term success of cloud-edge infrastructure in Europe Stay tuned for updates as we prepare the scene for the pilots launching in January 2025!
