🌐 Last November, WHO Europe and IDF Europe co-signed a declaration to accelerate policy action on #diabetes. This declaration recalls existing commitments and urges Member States to take immediate and comprehensive action to improve diabetes detection, enhance the quality of care and achieve global diabetes targets by 2030. Join us throughout May as we highlight the reasons people shared for signing and endorsing the Declaration. Starting today, we will publish tiles on our website and on social media that feature statements from various supporters. 🤝 Here's how you can contribute: Endorse the Declaration: as an individual or as an organisation, your support matters! Create and share an endorsement tile to let others know why you signed the declaration Share this post and the link to endorse the Declaration within your networks and communities, encouraging others to be #Unitedfordiabetes. 📣 Endorse the Declaration and create your personalised tile here: https://lnkd.in/eJwk2WyX ➡️Read the declaration here: https://shorturl.at/bkMU6 Let's turn commitment into action

🚀Yesterday, our #IDFEurope YOURAH advocates reached Munich where they are spending three days visiting labs at the Helmholtz Munich Diabetes Centre and meeting and interviewing leading scientists and researchers working on the ISLET project. 🧫ISLET seeks to generate islet cells to replace those destroyed in people living with #T1D to enable #insulin production again. 👩🏻🔬Fostering exchanges between young advocates and young scientists to promote scientific understanding of #research and #celltherapy development and explore the young advocates' views, needs and aspirations has been a key principle of the project from day 1. 🧪With this visit, they aim to deepen their understanding, forge stronger links and bring this understanding to the #diabetes #community. Stay tuned for news of the visit. ____________________________________________________ Cameron Keighron | Sabine Dupont | Ádám Gyurcsik | Elena Visocina Konstantina Boumaki | Anny Mais | Maartje Roskams | Eunike Sawitning Ayu Setyono | Tobias Greisle | Nicole Katarina Rogers |

❗ With over 61 million people living with #diabetes and 230 million people living with #hypertension across Europe, urgent action is needed to curb the rise of these epidemics and improve the quality of life of those diagnosed. 👏 Initiatives such as research projects like DigiCare4You which aim to implement and evaluate innovative solutions to improve the prevention and management of #type2diabetes and hypertension are key to achieving this aim. 📣 On the final day of NCD week, we call on stakeholders to strengthen their commitments to tackling NCDs. We commend the efforts already being undertaken, but more needs to be done. The time to lead is now! #NCDweek #ActOnNCDs #LeadOnNCDs __________________________________________________________________ Medical University-Varna | Harokopio University of Athens | International Diabetes Federation Europe | METEDA S.r.l. | Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) | International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC) | Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute | National & Kapodistrian University of Athens | Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna | Universidad de Zaragoza | GENUD Research Group | Monash University | La Trobe University | NYU Langone Health | Privanova | Ghent University | University of Medicine, Tirana

After returning from Paris, I’ve been reflecting on the impressive progress made by JACARDI (Joint Action on Cardiovascular and Diabetes) during its first year. Once again, I am reminded that success is not only fueled by the depth of expertise—over 200 experts from 21 countries came together in Paris—but also by a truly collaborative spirit, inclusivity, and skilled coordination. I am honored to represent International Diabetes Federation Europe on the Stakeholder Advisory Board and to have participated in the workshops for WP9, focused on integrated care pathways (29 pilot projects), and WP10, which addresses patient self-management (14 pilot projects). The inclusion of transversal work packages that emphasize methodology, sustainability, #diversity, and #equity brings a unique and valuable perspective to the technical work packages. The co-creation and meaningful engagement of #peoplewithlivedexperience will undoubtedly amplify the impact of the Joint Action. A special thanks to Santé publique France for their warm welcome. Congratulations to the WP leaders and pilot projects for the tremendous progress made, and to the coordinating team - Graziano Onder, Benedetta Armocida, and Beatrice Formenti—for leading such an ambitious initiative. I also want to extend my thanks to APDP Diabetes, Fédération Française des Diabétiques, Diabetes Liga, Diabetesliitto, Sciensano, European Heart Network (EHN), European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), WHO Regional Office for Europe Europe and European Diabetes Forum (EUDF) for bringing the invaluable expertise and experience of the diabetes community to the table. As we discussed during these intense three days of meetings, learning, and collaboration, let’s continue transforming our dreams and shared vision into action through collective effort and commitment. #JACARDIParis2024 #NCDs #Diabetes #CardiovascularHealth #EU4Health #DM #CVD

The EU-funded Project ISLET Consortium members investigate generating islet cells to replace those destroyed in people living with type 1 diabetes, which could enable #insulin production again. 🔬A key aim of the project is also to bring the voice of those living with type 1 diabetes (#T1D) to the project, and several members of our YOURAH network are invited to visit the labs in Munich later this month and interview ISLET researchers and consortium members. 🫧Keep your eyes open for the YOURAH interviews!
