Investing in Xavveo to revolutionize autonomous driving We’re very proud to co-lead the Seed Round for Xavveo. This Berlin-based company is developing a 4D photonic radar system that addresses the limitations of existing autonomous vehicle sensors. The Xavveo technology is the missing link that can enable the breakthrough of autonomous driving. It offers unparalleled precision under all circumstances while still being cost-competitive. Moreover, Xavveo’s system has already been tested in collaboration with a leading car manufacturer. Congratulations to Sven Otte, Stefan Meister, Ulrich Keil, and the entire Xavveo team! #GrowingTogether #VentureCapital #SeedRound #AutonomousDriving #PhotonicRadarSystem Vsquared Ventures

November 5th is THE day if you want to hear the pitches of some of the hottest start-ups in Hardware & Health at Ghent Slush'D, including Azalea Vision, Lynqo, OTIV, QustomDot, RESONIKS, BIO INX, Cortex Machina, OnTracx, FlyBlast and ReVision Implant. I'm sure it will be quite a challenge for Ilse Vanhulle, Alexis du Peloux and myself to judge which of these companies inspired us the most with their pitch. Bonus: If you're around at Ghent Slush'd, you may also bump into our one and only Karolina Liljeroth-Dorozynska and discuss with her how imec.xpand may be able to help your company thrive. Don't miss that chance! #VC #investor #startup #GhentSlushD #innovation #entrepreneurship #imecxpand

We were so busy with our Portfolio Showcase last week that we almost forgot to mention that we were also at PIC Summit Europe! Our partner, Bert G., participated in the investor panel, discussing the current funding dynamics for European DeepTech companies in integrated photonics. We'd like to share two of the insights he presented on stage: 🔹VISION Bert highlighted that companies can also raise funding on an appealing vision. This is especially true for early-stage DeepTech startups that are doing something disruptive in a new domain. 🔹FOMO - FEAR OF MISSING OUT With fewer VCs in Europe compared to the US, leveraging interest from multiple investors can work to a company's advantage. Creating a sense of FOMO and using that FOMO dynamic can be very effective. #DeepTech #photonics #GrowingTogether #PICSummit #fundraising

Yesterday, we hosted our annual Portfolio Showcase in the city of Mechelen. This was only the second edition, as the pandemic put us on pause for a while, but it's definitely our intention to make this an annual tradition. During the day, we organized two inspiring presentations for our portfolio companies, followed by a fun game of city golf through the historic streets of Mechelen. Later, we welcomed our LPs as our portfolio companies presented themselves in the unique setting of 't Gasthuis, the gastronomic training center for new Europeans, founded by world-renowned chef Seppe Nobels. Seppe's mission of fostering potential and creating opportunities for newcomers aligns perfectly with our values and mission. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a great success! #PortfolioShowcase #VentureCapital #PortfolioCompanies #GrowingTogether #Mechelen 📸 by Dirk Leemans

Our portfolio company Morrow Eyewear took the stage at the Zeiss Ventures Day 2024, showcasing the advancements in their Gen3 eProgressive glasses. The eProgressive glasses are no ordinary glasses. They are active devices that mimic the natural accommodation of the human eye. In just 0,6 seconds, you can effortlessly switch your focus from near to far, bringing back the comfort of single-vision glasses. How? Thanks to their proprietary lens-in-foil technology, utilizing liquid crystals. With just the push of a button, a small electric current activates the liquid crystal, instantly changing the refraction of light. #SmartGlasses #PortfolioCompany #GrowingTogether #ZeissVenturesDay ZEISS Group
