Scenario-based testing goes beyond mere mileage accumulation, by: ✅ Creating specific, realistic driving scenarios to test how ADAS and automated driving systems respond to various conditions and unexpected events. SOTIF emphasizes the need to identify and mitigate hazards, both known and unknown. DynoSafe pioneers the recording and analysis of network connectivity signals as part of the Operational Design Domain (ODD) for Advanced Driving Assistance Systems and Automated Driving (ADAS/AD). The DynoSafe Project covers several topics from data collection and processing to data analysis and signal-to-situation correlation.💡 During its execution, we are focusing on different objectives: ✅ collecting network quality data as easily as done for other sensor information like LiDAR or cameras from our demo vehicle, CARVEX; ✅ finding interesting connectivity and signal events, such as ping-pong or cross-border events;  ✅ creating connectivity coverage maps; ✅ analyzing the correlation of network signal information with other sensor data, to extract and analyze relevant connectivity scenarios. 📚 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 📚 Researchers from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety / Highway Loss Data Institute, along with colleagues from academia, the automated vehicle sector, and the insurance industry, have issued a set of best practices for future evaluations of highly automated vehicles. 🚗 These recommendations, known as the Retrospective Automated Vehicle Evaluation (RAVE) checklist, were developed during a two-day working group meeting in January and are detailed in a new paper. Eric Teoh, the IIHS director of statistical services, and David Kidd, a senior research scientist at IIHS, are among the co-authors. 🛣 Currently, fleets of highly automated vehicles without human drivers are operating in various locations, prompting researchers to assess their safety in real-world conditions. The RAVE checklist aims to promote rigorous scientific practices in this emerging field and help readers evaluate the quality of studies.
