It aims to inform sound and effective policymaking and coastal planning with region-specific analyses. 🌊 #EMB launches Navigating the Future VI 🌍 JPI Oceans was proud to attend the launch of Navigating the Future VI (#NFVI) by the European Marine Board IVZW yesterday, a key publication shaping the future of marine science policy. As an agile implementor, #JPIOceans looks forward to turning the NFVI's scientific insights and recommendations into concrete actions. NFVI outlines the critical role the Ocean plays in addressing global challenges and focuses on four key themes: 1. Ocean and People 🌐 2. Ocean and Climate 🌍 3. Ocean and Freshwater 💧 4. Ocean and Biodiversity 🐋 The launch event included responses from key stakeholders like Delilah Al Khudhairy from DG MARE, Rolf-Jan Hoeve from DG RTD and JPI Oceans Chair Niall McDonough. 🌊 The 12th FerryBox Workshop, hosted by @Finnish Environment Institute and, Recently, Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) - Suomen ympäristökeskus (Syke), brought together 70 scientists and technicians in #Helsinki to exchange knowledge on operational #oceanography and autonomous observation systems in commercial ferries and research vessels. During the event, MINKE led two metrology-focused #workshops on fluorescence measurements and plankton imaging. These dynamic sessions aimed to improve the quality and reliability of biological observations and engage young scientists and technical staff. 🌊 Exciting news from #EuroGOOS! 🌊 🔵 We are pleased to announce that EuroGOOS has contributed to the Global Online Stakeholder Consultation for the Ocean Action Panels’ Concept Papers as part of the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference! 🌍 This consultation, held from July 26 to August 30, 2024, gathered insights from global stakeholders on critical ocean issues, including: 🔹 Status and trends in ocean health 🔹 Challenges and opportunities for sustainable ocean management 🔹 New partnerships and recommendations to advance the implementation of SDG 14 (Life Below Water) 🔗 The report is now available here: https://lnkd.in/gpDd9xQU We are committed to shaping the future of global ocean governance by actively participating in dialogues that drive meaningful action. Our involvement reflects our dedication to advancing #OceanScience, supporting a broader European framework for #OceanObserving partnerships (the European Ocean Observing System framework #EOOS), and promoting #OceanLiteracy. 🔵 We are also thrilled to announce the publication of the National Charts on Ocean Observing and Monitoring as part of the European Ocean Observing System (#EOOS) initiative. These charts are the result of the efforts of the EOOS Resource Forum, which aims to enhance national observation initiatives for our oceans and coastal waters by identifying gaps, overcoming regulatory barriers, and ensuring harmonised data flows.
