About us
Since 2015 we are producing sustainable sneaker at Komrads. But the more we became aware of the production process the more questions we had about the Fashion industry. So, we started wondering: how polluting is the fashion industry, What about the Rana Plaza disaster and the numerous sweatshops. And what about all these youngsters going on strike for a better world! And so, this was the starting point of our dream. A dream to produce a fashionable sneaker that did not cause harm to our planet. A Sneaker where did not have to harvest natural commodities. A sneaker build entirely from re-used and recycled materials, A dream to be part of the circular economy. A dream to design a the most sustainable and ecological sneaker. A sneaker that is a part of the solution

At KOMRADS.World, we strive to minimize the impact of our product life cycle as much as possible. We are proud to say that we are pioneers in ethical and sustainable production. It is encouraging to see that more and more brands in Belgium are realizing that production without responsibility is no longer acceptable. The consequences of irresponsible production are devastating. Ghana, one of the poorest countries in the world, is a victim of our overconsumption and fast fashion mentality. Every week, as many as 15 million garments arrive, 40% of which are too damaged or of too poor quality to be resold. “The problems in Ghana are symptomatic of major flaws in how we, as a society, handle clothing,” states Flanders DC. Last week, a group of CEOs from seven Belgian fashion companies traveled to Ghana to witness the consequences of the textile waste problem firsthand. During the mission, organized by Flanders DC, the participants signed a charter on “responsible and transparent supply chain management.” The charter includes commitments regarding both the supply chain (upstream due diligence) and post-sale chain (downstream). In the coming months, the goal is for other Belgian fashion companies to join this initiative, but the first signatories already represent nine brands: Bel&Bo, Claes Retail Group, e5.be Fashion, Noterman Fashion, Pluto, Schoenen Torfs, and Xandres. https://lnkd.in/ghiwiJWj

The reality of Fast-fashion.
LinkedIn Top Green Voice | The Circular Economist | Helping Companies Make Less 🗑️ More 💵 | Keynote speaker
Forget fast fashion. Welcome to the ULTRA fast fashion. 75 hr work weeks... 8,000 new designs per day. Air transport is so big, that it clogs airports. Most returns end up in landfills. SHEIN, the Chinese fast fashion giant, is now valued at $100bn, making it worth as much as Zara and H&M combined. These super cheap products come at a huge cost to our planet and our society. This is what we are up against. I don't think "letting the consumer choose" will work. Time for some top-down intervention. Agree? Hit follow to learn more. Repost to reach more people ♻.

10 years of Fashion Revolution day! Komrads celebrates the 10th anniversary of Fashion Revolution Day, A Day to remind us of the importance of ethical and sustainable practices within the fashion industry. A day to create global awareness about the impact of fashion on people and planet At Komrads we consider ethical working conditions as one of our main focus points. Therefore we produce within the EU (Portugal). Where our manufacturer is also committed to fair and safe working conditions. On a regular basis we visit our production factories, ensuring that your sneakers are made under fair wages and fair working conditions. But we do more. Our distribution partner vzw NEKTARI gives vulnerable people with a distance to the job market (disabled, ex-prisoners, refugees) a chance to get a meaningful job and develop their talents. Fashion Revolution Day takes place in memory of the tragic event of April 24, 2013, the Rana Plaza disaster. The building, located in Bangladesh, housed 5,000 workers, mostly women, working in poor conditions. On that tragic day, the building collapsed, killing 1,100 people and injuring 2,500 others. To this day, Fashion Revolution Day symbolizes the urgent need for safe working conditions in the fashion industry, as well as fair wages for all workers. #komradsofthefuture #fashionrevolutionday #
