Road, trucks, rail, wait... wasn't decarbonizing #Aviation going to be a central pillar in achieving EU CO2 #emissions reduction targets? 🤔 🛫 What did we learn yesterday about the EU #aviation plans during #Sustainable Transport and Tourism Commissioner-designate Tzitzikosta's hearing? Not a lot, to the surprise of many, but the agenda seems at the very least focused: 1. Sustainable Transport Investment Plan (STIP) announced will include infrastructure, clean fuels, and #SAF production and availability support for the aviation sector. The Commissioner-designate seems to think enough regulatory work was done in the previous term and that it's time to support #investments. This seems like the down to earth approach to a new #aviation strategy asked by some, but given the little attention given to aviation sector during the hearing, it'll be interesting to see #fund allocation. 2. "Refuel EU aviation gives adequate flexibility to carriers and it's only starting in 2025", said the Commissioner-designate, and reminded those attending that they (unlike him) where there when this was being drafted. A double nod requesting patience but also to climate target deniers it seems, with Tzitzikosta's doubling down on previously made commitments and winning over the Greens. 3. The long-standing ask of the aviation industry, a #BookandClaim system, is staying on back-burn until further notice. Concerns over certificate froad and double accounting were brought up, though certainly the #tradeassociations will be more than happy to provide expertise to any technical questions. It looks like we wait and see for the updated impact assessment in 2025 or further notice. 4. At last, the #AirServices Regulation revision is happening. Labour topics came up more than once, with partiers across the political spectrum looking like they will have some opinions on this. Let's see what the #industry has to say; flying into Brussels Airport recently and seeing the the #AirlinesforEurope ad, it looks like it's going to be a lot. 💡 Bonus point: Urban #AirTaxis traffic management was mentioned in the opening speech but not again during the discussion. Is #AAM on the regulatory agenda again? We were all on the same page of implementing #2021/664 and sticking to maybe revising implementing rules as announced by #EASA, I thought? Interesting times for uncrewed transport management... Congratulations to Commissioner-designate Tzitzikostas for being voted through! Next stop the European Parliament plenary at the end of the month ✈️ logos #aviation #cleanaviation #DGMove #Tzitzikostas

As we've seen in past editions of ‘logos investigates’, many countries are integrating #CCS technology into their National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs). In this episode, we focus on France to see how it will implement this into its #climate strategy. Some important points in France's CCS strategy are: ⚡ It plans to implement CCS in the industrial sector by 2027, with #CO2 capture projections reaching 4-8.5 million tonnes annually by 2030. ⚡ The 'France 2030' plan allocates €4.5 billion for #decarbonising the industrial sector. A new support scheme to finance large-scale projects will launch in 2024. ⚡ Early 2024 studies aim to assess France's CO2 #sequestration potential. €25-30 million has been invested in seismic campaigns and injection tests. 👉 Read our article to learn more about the challenges and untapped potential in France: https://lnkd.in/eZb78xnu Stay tuned for our next episode! Can you guess which country we will investigate?

The latest episode of 'logos investigates' is here to explore the role of #CCS in the Nordic countries’ National Energy and Climate Plans (#NECPs), focusing on Denmark, Finland, and Sweden: 🔹Denmark leads the charge with ambitious infrastructure projects like Greensand and Bifrost, backed by a DKK 35 billion investment, aiming for a 70% emissions reduction by 2030. 🔸Finland takes a more moderate approach, prioritising research into biogenic solutions like Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) but faces economic and geological barriers to large-scale CCS deployment. 🔹Sweden finds a balance between CCS and bio-CCS, leveraging its strong #bioeconomy, but still needs to establish national CO2 storage capacity by 2030. ➡️ Interested in learning more?
