About us
The Permanent Representation of Lithuania 🇱🇹 to the European Union 🇪🇺 employs representatives from various Lithuanian ministries, which is the largest diplomatic mission of Lithuania in the world. 💡 The Permanent Representative and its team participate on a daily basis in decision-making in the Council of the European Union, representing Lithuania and defending its interests. Representatives of Lithuania closely cooperate with all EU Member States in all EU institutions. The main tasks of the PermRep of Lithuania to the EU: ➡️To represent and defend the rights and legitimate interests of Lithuania, its citizens, businesses, and other legal entities in the EU institutions. ➡️To participate in the development of European Union law. ➡️To promote Lithuania's good relations with the institutions of the European Union and the Member States. ➡️To help Lithuanian regions and municipalities, Lithuanian citizens and companies to establish direct relations with European Union institutions, Lithuanian business, interest and professional organizations to expand relations with other European Union organizations. ➡️To disseminate information about Lithuania, its political, social, and economic situation, culture and science, traditions.

#Lithuania 🇱🇹 has solidified its reputation as a leader in digital public services, climbing from 7th to 6th place in the 2024 European eGovernment Benchmark. This significant leap among 37 #European countries underscores our commitment to digitizing the public sector and enhancing service quality. With an impressive score of 86 out of 100, Lithuania ranks 📈 among the most advanced countries in #Europe. Lithuania’s standout performance includes: ☑️ Technical Adaptation: Scoring 94 points, with top marks in digitisation of records (100), electronic documents (91), pre-filled forms (92), and electronic identification (94). The eID indicator is particularly notable, increasing from 89 to 94 points, well above the EU average of 71. ☑️ Consumer Orientation: Improved to 94 points, excelling in Consumer Support (97) and Internet Access (92). 💬 "It is up to the companies in the exporting EU countries, not Lithuanian or other national institutions and customs authorities, to ensure that sanctions are not evaded," said 🇱🇹 Vice-Minister Simonas Satunas during the Foreign Affairs Council 🇪🇺 #FAC in #Brussels. The FAC also discussed support for #Ukraine 🇺🇦, the use of immobilised Russian assets, and the further implementation of the #Ukrainian peace formula. 💬 "The guidelines for support to Ukraine proposed by the President of the European Commission should become a European strategy for Ukraine's victory. 💬 "As a result of our joint work with the European Commission, Lithuania's request for European support for strategic transport infrastructure projects in the country was approved. This will help us to give a significant boost to the further development of transport and military mobility links in the region and integration with the West. In today's geopolitical context, this is a key condition not only for the economic growth of the whole region, but also for national security," said #Lithuania's 🇱🇹 Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis. €7 billion for better connectivity in #Europe 🇪🇺 and more than €500 million for Lithuania. The European Commission has selected 134 transport projects for investment by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The funding will support: 🚊 Better rail transport and the #RailBaltica project; ⚓️ Klaipėdos uostas/Port of Klaipėda in Lithuania to reduce port pollution ✈️ Better air traffic management through the development of the #SingleEuropeanSky; 🚗 For safer road access, support for the upgrade of another section of the #ViaBaltica. #LTinEU #LithuaniaInEU #LTPermRepEU
