The last winter post from Vilnius! ❄️ The snow has left the chat, but we’ve got a few final winter snaps to remember it by. Honestly, this winter wasn’t exactly bringing its A-game, but at least the last few weeks put in some effort. Now, winter, if you could kindly pack your bags and leave... that’d be great. Spring, you’re officially on the clock! 📸 Gabriel Khiterer

Ever thought, "Hey, let me jump into a freezing river for fun?" Well, these legends do it on purpose—and love it! Meet Vilnelės Pankai, the boldest Lithuanians who trade cozy blankets for icy plunges in the name of resilience, mental strength, and—let’s be honest—a little bit of madness. P.S. Trust us, we tried it. The moment you take your clothes off? Instant regret. The post-swim high? 100% worth it.

February 16 – Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania. Can you imagine a Lithuania where our language was silenced, our flag hidden, our identity suppressed? Just over a century ago, that was our reality. But on February 16, 1918, everything changed. A bold declaration turned hope into history, reclaiming Lithuania’s rightful place in the world—and today, we stand free. We don’t take this for granted—we celebrate it, we protect it, and we carry it forward! 📸 Gabriel Khiterer

January 13 - Freedom Defender’s Day in Lithuania. On this day in 1991, thousands of unarmed citizens faced down Soviet tanks with nothing but courage and the unshakable belief in their right to freedom. It was a moment that changed history—a fight for independence that inspired others across the world to dream of a better future. The bravery of those who stood firm reminds us that liberty is precious, and unity can overcome even the greatest challenges. Today, we honor their memory and celebrate the freedom they fought so hard to protect. 📸 Justas Račas | Ranco Photography

Lost and found, but make it royal. 👑 Archaeologists have uncovered burial crowns and treasures from the 1500s hidden in Vilnius Cathedral’s crypts. These stunning artifacts, linked to Lithuanian and Polish rulers Alexander Jagiellon (Aleksandras Jogailaitis), Elizabeth of Austria (Elžbieta Habsburgaitė), and Barbara Radziwiłł (Barbora Radvilaitė), are not just masterpieces of goldsmithing but also powerful symbols of Lithuania’s legacy and testament to our city’s greatness. And speaking of crowns… remember Vilnius Wrapped 2024? We said Vilnius collects crowns like a hobby. Well, history just backed us up!
