💡 Cube-user Loren Deblock is one of the finalists of the Flemish PhD Cup! During his doctorate, he developed a new contrast agent in close collaboration with radiologists and surgeons to improve the surgical treatment of breast cancer patients. This new contrast agent, made from nanocrystals, can visualize the sentinel lymph node before and during surgery using CT and fluorescence. These imaging techniques can work cheaper, more accessible, faster, and more accurately than current methods. Every year, more than 2 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the most common cancer in the world. Therefore, research into better imaging and therapies is crucial so that these patients can receive the best possible treatment. 🎗️ 👉 More information? Read more via the link below (Dutch) The final takes place on October 16. Good luck, Loren! #PhDCup2024 #BreastCancerAwareness #PreclinicalImaging Ghent University

🎀🎗️October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month! MOLECUBES proudly supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month and those affected by breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign held every October. The month aims to promote screening and prevention of the disease, which affects millions globally. This month, we will share inspiring and innovative research concerning preclinical imaging research in breast cancer. In this post, we will highlight the groundbreaking research of two of our customers, whose work is making significant strides in the fight against breast cancer. Their work will also be presented at the upcoming European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) conference. 🔬L. Schäfer - Department of Nuclear Medicine, University Hospital Aachen (Uniklinik RWTH Aachen) Abstract: OP-651: 123/125 Iodine labelled-PARP inhibitor-loaded polymeric micelles for combination radio-chemotherapy against triple-negative breast cancer. In this study, SPECT/CT was used to investigate in vivo biodistribution and therapeutic efficacy of the radio-nanoformulation. In vivo SPECT/CT measurements revealed prolonged circulation, higher tumor accumulation, and decelerated deiodination of the tracer encapsulated in micelles compared to the naked tracer. 🔬 T. Auchynnikava - Turku PET Centre and the Department of Chemistry, Turun yliopisto - University of Turku Abstract: OP-016: PET Evaluation of Oligonucleotide Structural Effects on Tumor Targeting in HCC1954 Breast Cancer Xenografts. Positron emission tomography (PET) is a valuable tool for developing novel therapeutics. In this study, In vivo PET/CT was used to investigate and evaluate the structural effects of oligonucleotides on tumor targeting in breast cancer xenografts. The developed radiolabeled method allowed us to successfully demonstrate the beneficial properties of MSNAs over linear ON and to study the structural effects on biodistribution. 💡Read more about their research via the abstract excerpts below! #BreastCancerAwareness #PreclinicalImaging #EANM2024
