COVE is proud to partner with OffshoreWind4Kids to host the 2025 Nova Scotia Floating Wind Challenge, a key initiative in building future capabilities and developing a skilled workforce needed to support Nova Scotia’s ambitious offshore wind energy goals. As the province seeks to triple its current energy output through offshore wind, this challenge provides post-secondary students with hands-on experience in sustainable energy, encouraging them to pursue careers in this growing industry. Students from across Nova Scotia, Canada, are invited to design a floating support structure for a Vevor 400W turbine, competing for cash prizes and the opportunity to represent Nova Scotia internationally in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. The local challenge will take place in the Halifax Regional Municipality between February 17th and 23rd, 2025 (date and location to be confirmed). To learn more, join our virtual kickoff event this Friday, October 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., where industry leaders will provide insights and answer questions. This event will be recorded for those unable to attend. 🔗 Kickoff event registration: https://lnkd.in/enHcF4H2 🔗 Local challenge registration: https://lnkd.in/ecB2sNx6 Through initiatives like this, COVE is equipping the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the future demands of the global offshore wind industry. Special thank you to RBC Tech for Nature for supporting this challenge.

🚢💡 #OffshoreExperience2024 #HealthyEnergy #Duurzaamheid #GroeneEconomie #BlauweEconomie #Vonk #VonkBlueSchools #SmartFuture https://lnkd.in/e93yJG-D

In addition to industry guest lectures, our University of Melbourne students in CVEN90071 Offshore Wind Geotechnical Engineering also get to enjoy various hand-on activities. During a recent practical session, they conducted T-bar and piezocone penetrometer tests, gaining valuable experience in data interpretation. Additionally, our students enjoyed an engaging field trip to Port Melbourne Beach, where they installed various fixed-bottom and floating #offshorewind foundations. These experiences not only reinforce theoretical knowledge but also foster practical skills that prepare our students for future careers in the offshore wind industry.

𝐔𝐮𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! Gerne wieder ❤️

Stakeholder Manager at Dudgeon, Sheringham Shoal Offshore wind farms and their extension projects.

🗣️’’5.41 volts. You tilt the blades to get the right angle.” Lewis and Ronnie age 9. The Equinor team are kicking off a range of activities around Norfolk, starting with 1st Mulbarton Cubs. Huge thanks to Ross McMillan from the Greater Wash base for getting the kids inspired for their scientist badge: 💨 Measuring wind speed with an anemometer 👷Constructing turbines with Wind for Kids kits from Skills for Energy 📐Pacing out the huge scale of a blade 🐟 Discussing why we work with Marine Biologists 🧗Trying on a real tech’s (decommissioned) climbing kit ⚡️Testing how many volts our turbines generate 🔧 Handling a real cable 🛳️ Running around in a maritime themed game! They asked tricky questions like: How much do you earn? What’s the best food on the SOV? How fast does the wind have to blow to break a turbine? What does it cost to buy a turbine? It was great to see an energetic group of kids enthralled in their task, building a wind farm in the scout hut. Thank you to Suzanne Allen (Greening) for sharing your Skills for Energy kit from EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) including the brilliant OffshoreWind4Kids resources.

    Service technician WTG at Vattenfall
