Forests offer a rich variety of nuts, fruits, seeds, roots, tubers, leaves, mushrooms, honey, wild meat, and insects, providing essential nutrients. 🪵 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥: More than 2 billion people rely on wood and other traditional fuels for cooking, underscoring the ongoing importance of forests in daily life. 👩🏻🌾 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: Forests are crucial for agriculture, providing habitats for pollinators, maintaining soil health, retaining water, offering food and shade for livestock, regulating temperatures, acting as natural windbreaks for crops, and enhancing rainfall for agricultural needs. 🐻 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐭: Over 3,200 species of wild animals from forests serve as essential protein sources, especially for Indigenous Peoples and rural communities in tropical regions. 🫐 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: During crises like failed harvests or conflicts, forests act as safety nets, supporting food security and diversifying incomes when usual food sources are unavailable. 🚰 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Forested watersheds supply freshwater to more than 85% of the world's major cities. Sustainable forest management can enhance water quality for over 1.7 billion urban residents, contributing to their food and water security. 🍓 𝐑𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬: In certain regions, forests and trees contribute approximately 20% of income for rural households, enabling access to nutritious and diverse diets, particularly for the poorest households. C4B consortium is dedicated to advancing a circular bioeconomy, leveraging forest-based innovations to promote sustainability and resilience.
