Understanding your illness means being prepared to discuss your fears and apprehensions with your doctor, and ultimately trusting him or her, according to a 2018 study. That's why it's essential to communicate transparently with patients at every stage of their healthcare journey. How do you feel about this? Do you dare to ask your doctor all your questions? #InternationalEducationDay

Last Monday we had the opportunity to welcome a delegation from the European Commission, and European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) to our production facility in Geel. As a global leader in immune science driven by AI, Sanofi is helping to boost the European Union's competitiveness in the strategic pharmaceutical sector. Our robust, diversified, and balanced manufacturing network, along with our ongoing investments in the region, are crucial to strengthening the EU's global standing in the industry. To continue fostering innovation and growth, it is essential for our sector to have access to attractive frameworks and policies that stimulate innovation. President Von der Leyen and her College of Commissioners have outlined a clear agenda to enhance the competitiveness and resilience of our sector — and it couldn’t come at a better time. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a high-level delegation from the European Commission, and EFPIA - European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations to our Sanofi Geel facility in Belgium. It was an opportunity to showcase not just the science behind biotechnology and biomanufacturing, but also the incredible impact we have collectively on innovation, patient care, and high-skilled job creation in Europe. I believe the EU can — with the right will and support across policy makers and industry alike — recover its position as a global leader where the next breakthrough medicines are discovered, developed, and manufactured. Our Geel site is a shining example of how fostering a robust biomanufacturing ecosystem ensures life-changing treatments reach patients faster by pushing the boundaries of innovation, improving health outcomes and driving economic growth in parallel. But we must also be realistic: the road ahead is not without challenges. The EU’s new Life Sciences Strategy and Biotech Act present an opportunity to address the significant headwinds facing the health sector, from regulatory bottlenecks and limited public support for strategic investments if we are to become global champions in biotech competitiveness. By fostering a stronger partnership between industry and policymakers, we can fundamentally improve the competitiveness and impact of the sector. Let’s work together to ensure Europe is at the forefront of the AI revolution in manufacturing and in science, research and innovation – all for the benefit of patients across Europe and around the world. #lifesciences #EFPIA #EUcompetitiveness Laura Gutierrez; David Elvira, MSc, PhD; Mark Canavan ; Bart Vermeulen; Nathalie Moll; Roberta Savli; Alexandra Tamas; Audrey Duval

Sad as it may seem, childhood cancer is very real. In low-income countries, only 30% of children with cancer are cured. That's why, in collaboration with the WHO, we'd like to reach a target of a 60% survival rate for every child with cancer by 2030, wherever they live in the world. To achieve this, here's what we do every day ❤️ #Cancer #Childhood #ChildhoodCancer #FondationS

🩺 Preventing the risk of thrombosis in abdominal and pelvic surgery: a priority! Major abdominal and pelvic surgery, particularly carcinology, exposes patients to a high risk of deep vein thrombosis. By understanding the mechanisms involved, identifying risk factors and adopting appropriate preventive measures, we can protect patients effectively while minimising complications. #Thrombosis
