Are you interested in helping interoperability become a reality in the European cloud market?  The European Commission has launched an external study on the interoperability of data processing services to support the implementation of provisions on this subject in the Data Act. We (WIK-Consult GmbH) will be conducting the study along with DECISION Etudes & Conseil and Schuman Associates, and will be seeking input from stakeholders at various stages in the process. This will include an online survey to be conducted around December 2024 and a stakeholder workshop, which will take place around March 2025. Some stakeholders will also be contacted for interviews. The Data Act seeks to remove barriers to cloud switching and support interoperability. It envisages the establishment of a repository for the publication of harmonised standards and common specifications for the interoperability of data processing services (Article 35). The primary aim of the study is to:  - provide an up-to-date overview of existing harmonised standards for cloud interoperability   - identify industry work on relevant open interoperability specifications   - advise on the recognition of harmonised standards and open interoperability specifications in the repository   - identify gaps that would merit the launch of a standardisation request Please contact us via c.interop@WIK.ORG if you are interested in providing input to the study.
