📅 It's been six months since 23 EU member states signed the #EUSolarCharter, and four months since the EU Net-Zero Industry Act hit the rule books.   We've marked the occasion with a new State of Play report, which maps and evaluates the impact of all existing EU and national support measures for EU solar manufacturers.   Our finding? There's a positive direction of solar manufacturing - but it is spread unevenly and is not at the level required. A true win-win for renewable energy and biodiversity! 🌞🦋   🆕 SolarPower Europe and The Nature Conservancy in Europe have released a new policy paper exploring how nature-inclusive solar parks can not only help mitigate the impacts of climate change, but also go the extra mile in restoring nature.     While some EU countries already have incentives for nature-inclusive solar parks, this paper highlights the need for a new, cross-sectorial EU policy framework.   Key recommendations include:      🐝 Establishing a common, clear, and ambitious EU definition of nature-inclusive solar parks   📖 Providing guidance on solar park development to avoid and minimise biodiversity loss during planning, construction, and post-construction, while incorporating practices to restore, offset, or enhance biodiversity   📊 Developing and implementing a robust monitoring and evaluation system      Read the full paper here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dQmgaqJv

Strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence with renewable energy. ✊   We welcome European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's recently announcement commitment to rolling out more #renewables in Ukraine this Winter, promising:   💵 €160 million in aid, including €100 million for renewables and repair works.   🏥 Donating solar panels to 21 of the country's hospitals, to guarantee a stable, continued energy supply.   Alongside this support, it’s also welcoming to see the publication of the International Energy Agency (IEA)’s report, ‘Ukraine’s Energy Security and the Coming Winter,’ which proposes 🔟 key energy actions to reinforce the country’s energy security.   As part of these recommendations, #solar☀ is included as part of an overall recommendation to increase and decentralise Ukraine’s power supply with renewables, ensuring it’s resilience against Russian attacks.   Collectively, we must guarantee that hospitals in Ukraine can continue to remain open, and provide critical services to those who need it the most.   Read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/ee8B23Sg   Image copyright: © European Union, 2024 Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation BSW – Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V.
