Last night was an energy boost! A few of us — namely Geert, Philippe, Florence, Maxime, and Michel (from left to right in the picture) — attended the 3rd edition of the Trends Impact Awards. For those unfamiliar, these awards recognize SMEs and large companies making a sustainable impact through their projects. Organized in collaboration with Trends Tendances Magazine, PwC, and the Antwerp Management School, the event celebrates businesses driving positive environmental and social change (just that!). During the evening, we were inspired by speakers like Jef Colruyt, Aisling D'Hooghe, and Hélène de Troostembergh, who shared insights on topics close to our hearts and minds: #sustainability, #climate and #energy, #diversity and #inclusion, #circulareconomy, #resilience — just to name a few. While the night was about awards and competition, it was also a reminder that real impact requires collaboration, both within and between companies. And in that respect, we had a few great encounters 🙏 We didn’t bring home the trophy this time, but we’re proud to be among the top 3 finalists in our category (alongside PostNL Pakketen Belgïe and the winner Railtrip.travel — kudos to all!), returning with renewed hopes and boosted ambitions for the future. ❔ Did you know? Many people believe that air travel and energy-efficient renovations of our homes should be top priorities in the fight against CO2 emissions. However, the data shows that our daily commuting actually has an even greater impact: ✔Aviation accounts for 3% of global CO2 emissions. ✔Energy-efficient renovations of buildings contribute 6%. ✔Daily commuting (cars, buses, etc.) makes up 8% of total emissions. This doesn’t mean we should neglect efforts to reduce emissions from travel or building renovations.
