  • This weekend, Denis Van Weynbergh makes history as the first Belgian 🇧🇪 to complete the Vendée Globe, the world’s most demanding solo #sailing race. His journey is nothing short of inspiring—an amateur sailor, supported by a team of volunteers, navigating the globe on a boat build back in 2015 with second-hand equipment. 🚣🏼A true testament to perseverance, resourcefulness, and a circular approach to competition. ⚓️ Beyond his personal challenge, Denis, like several other participants, contributed to vital ocean research projects, showing that adventure and #sustainability can go hand in hand. His achievement remains truly exceptional. We have followed this race, also called the Everest of sailing, where top professional sailors and teams compete with amateur teams. Congratulations to Denis and his entire team, as well as D’Ieteren Group with the CEO Francis Deprez who sponsored this incredible adventure and for believing in this remarkable challenge. Success is not just about rankings—it’s about #resilience, vision, and daring to achieve the impossible. Bravo, Denis! #Vlaemmincklaw

📝 Digital Responsibility: Protecting Minors Online 🖥️ An Opinion Piece by Philippe P. Vlaemminck, lawyer specialising in EU law. 📘In the latest edition of The Parliament Magazine, Philippe emphasises the need to protect minors in the digital sphere, particularly within the lottery and gambling sector. 🔍Collaboration is key. Safeguarding minors in the digital sphere cannot be the sole responsibility of operators. Policymakers, regulators, and society as a whole must collaborate to establish a comprehensive framework that protects minors online. This involves updating legal instruments, enhancing cooperation, and fostering public awareness about the risks associated with online gambling especially for minors. ✒️ Philippe highlights the fact that The European Lotteries and its members advocate for measures (such as robust age verification systems, education campaigns) that foster a culture of digital responsibility, ensuring that the online environment remains a safe space for all, particularly the younger generation. EL also calls for a balanced, risk-based approach to gambling advertising, regulated at national level. 🗣️ ''As we navigate the complexities of the digital age, the protection of minors must remain a top priority.'' 📖 Read the full article here ➡️https://shorturl.at/X51z3 💡 Do you want to find out more?
