The skyrocketing demand for emerging technologies like AI and machine learning is putting unprecedented pressure on the cooling needs of data centres – the backbone of the technology industry and modern economy. Simultaneously, new regulations in the EU require data centres to report their environmental and energy performance to the European Commission. While data centers are known to consume large amounts of energy in the cooling process, an innovative technology called two-phase immersion cooling (2-PIC) has the potential to reduce data centers’ energy consumption by up to 90%, while also ensuring that data centers can continue to sustain our digital transformation.
