Anniversary in Antwerp! 🎉 50 years ago, the production of methionine started in Antwerp! With an initial capacity of 12,000 tons per year, a methionine plant was built in 1974 according to the Potassium-cycle process. 🏭 This increased the total annual capacity of Evonik's predecessor Degussa to 30,000 tons. About 30 years later, a new plant was started up at the Antwerp site. With a capacity of 120,000 tons per year, it was the largest methionine plant in the world at the time of its completion.
