Then you should prepare for the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (#PPWR). 🌍 As the EU moves toward adopting the new PPWR, internal compliance processes and procedures will likely need to be reviewed and revised to align with the new requirements. 💡 Products and raw materials will need to be reassessed vis-à-vis compliance, requiring engagement with companies up and down the supply-chains. 💸 Heads up, banks and financial service providers: the new EU law on green and social washing is likely going to have a wide impact. The EU is currently in the process of finalizing and adopting a number of new laws on greenwashing and social-washing. These laws will, amongst other things, essentially reverse the burden of proof, requiring companies to validate their green or social claims rather than litigants proving them false. This shift puts companies on the defensive from the outset. New EU legislation is about to be adopted, requiring pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies to shoulder the costs of water pollution. 💧🌍 Specifically, this legislation will oblige those companies to fund the clean-up and removal of micropollutants from wastewater. In addition, it will increase the risk of legal claims related to health damages for pharmaceutical and other industries. The (Recast) Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive is expected to be formally adopted in Q3/4 of this year.
