We were at the must-attend WEB3 event: Web3 Leaders Forum in Brussels, organized by Adan during the ETHCC week. The #W3LF 2024 comes to a close with an excellent speech by Christophe De Beukelaer, Member of Parliament and President of Brussels, who was one of the first politicians to believe in #crypto and to express this publicly. Thank you very much, Mr De Beukelaer, for honouring us with your presence and, as you said: "#Blockchain and crypto are profoundly changing the landscape of finance. Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, says that Bitcoin is digital gold and will become a safe haven for citizens. It is even a hot topic in the US election campaign. It's time to move beyond the usual clichés (money laundering, terrorist financing, etc.) and focus on the real issues. But if the political world does not open its eyes, they will leave Belgium and develop elsewhere!"

Following on from the day's events, we have just witnessed an afternoon of rich debate at the Sparks conference center in Brussels. Maud Tezenas du Montcel (Synaps), Eugenio Reggianini (EBA) and Nicolas Bacca(co-fonfer of Ledger) shared their views on how cryptography and Web3 solutions - particularly decentralised identity solutions - enable users to regain control over their online data. They reminded us that this major problem, which the internet has never been able to solve until now, has now become simple with #Web3. Similarly, financing is a major challenge for companies to grow internationally and for the industry to structure properly. Brian Breslow (Dorahacks), Erik Ashdown (Covalent), Ethan Buchman (Informal Systems) and William Luedtke  (Intuition) explored, under the watchful eye of their audience, how to envisage sustainable funding mechanism in the crypto ecosystem. Finally, a very hot topic as the first part of the regulation on Markets in crypto-assets (#MiCA) has just come into force for stablecoin issuers: Patrick Hansen (Circle), Martin Bruncko (Schuman Financial) and Sylvain Prigent (SG Forge) asked themselves How stablecoins are coping with the New Regulatory Landscape. Thank you all once again for your enlightening views on the wide range of subjects of interest to the development of the sector, and to Kais Haj Taieb (Groupe Crédit Agricole), to Jordan Andrews (Atom Accelerator DAO / Cosmos Hub) and to Louis Tellier (The Big Whale) for their wise leadership of this afternoon's debates.

The #Web3 already represents 5000 startups in Europe! This is the conclusion of the Truffle Capital and Bpifrance report for Adan presented this afternoon at the Web 3 Leaders Forum. As we pointed out in our manifesto for Europe in May 2024, Europe is now a world leader when it comes to business start-ups, but it is still struggling to produce world-class unicorns and is being dominated by other powers when it comes to Web3 unicorns on its territory. Two months ago, Adan recommended in its Manifesto that Europe take concrete actions to guarantee start-ups access to finance throughout their development cycle. Reading the report on investment in Web 3, which will be published soon (we will keep you posted!), shows that this is a necessity.

This morning's #W3LF has already paved the way for a number of discussions that will need to be pursued to build Europe's future in digital innovation. In the field of finance, and at a time when Europe has been looking for ways to deepen the union of capital markets, Cristiano Ventricelli (Moody's), Erwin Voloder, MES (The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra) and Thaïs Drozdowski (Inuk) gave us a first-hand look at how tokenisation could help build the finance of tomorrow. Mélodie Lamarque (Keyring Network), Peter Kerstens (European Commission), Olivier Fliche (French banking supervisor, ACPR) and Claire Wells (Kiln) discussed the possibility and necessity of regulating decentralised finance, at a time when the sector is impatiently awaiting the European Commission's report, due by the end of the year, on the development of the #crypto market. Europe also sees metaverse as a market of the future. The latest Altindex study predicts a global metaverse market of 25 billion dollars by 2030, in education alone. Joachim Schwerin (European Commission) and Jordi Mompart (FC Barcelona) therefore highlighted the key role of #NFTs in the successful adoption of #VirtualWorlds in Europe. Finally, Dr Lisa C. (Crypto and Digital Assets All Party Parliamentary Group, APPG), Dimitrios Psarrakis (GBBC) and Matthieu Lucchesi (Gide Loyrette Nouel) gave us a clearer picture of the global regulatory landscape for Web 3 and provided key tools for companies looking to address new markets in the coming years. Thank you, to all the speakers, for making this morning a success by answering questions from Mark Kepeneghian (Kriptown), Inbar Preiss (DL News),  Raphaël Rossignol (Economic Warfare School) and Denys Malengreau (Consultant).
