At Pacific Life Re we’re celebrating International Women’s Day highlighting women’s achievements across all walks of life and reminding us about the need for greater gender equality. This year’s theme is Accelerate Action and over the last 12 months we’ve been busy running education forums including guest speakers and panels, volunteering and actively participating in market events to play our part in improving gender equality. Across the globe we’ve been working alongside our amazing charity partner, Dress for Success, which empowers women to achieve economic independence and thrive in the workplace. We’ve reviewed CVs and run mock interviews at our Career Development Days enabling women to go on to achieve their professional goals. We’ve also helped sort clothing and styled women to be interview ready. And just recently in London we’ve partnered with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and Connectr by hosting a roundtable event to look at how the insurance industry can do more to attract and retain female talent. How can the protection market take the lead with LGBTQ+ communities to better support the people working in it and protect the LGBTQ+ population in the future? Richard Purcell, Client Solutions Director for Protection, Europe at Pacific Life Re, will be discussing this topic at the Protection Forum 2025, hosted by Health & Protection next week. Richard led Pacific Life Re’s consumer research and report on underserved markets in 2024. This research highlighted how LGBTQ+ are amongst some of the less well served customers in the market and considers some of the drivers for that.
