    🌍 At the recent event on Ecological Risk at The Royal Society, Charmian (Char) Love, Natura &Co’s Global Director of Advocacy opened her speech with a powerful invitation to the room. She asked people to  take a  moment to look outside - to notice the trees, the leaves, the clouds - to pause and appreciate nature. And to share that appreciation with others. This set the tone for a discussion on how interconnected our business is with nature and the urgent risks we’re facing in the Amazon. Char went on to talk about a number of topics, some of which we’ve highlighted below: 🍃 The Ucuuba Tree Story: Charmian shared a story about the Ucuuba tree — a vital source of income for communities in the Amazon. A preserved Ucuuba tree generates three times more income than logging it for timber. However, this delicate balance is under threat. The tree relies on moist soil, so increased droughts are a major concern. 🔗 Collaborating for Systemic Change: To address these challenges, we must go beyond our own business and advocate for broader system changes. Charmian highlighted, “If risks are connected, so must be the solutions.” Our involvement with initiatives like the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) are helping to create a common set of disclosure recommendations and guidance that enable business and finance to assess, report and act on their nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities. 🌱 Rooted in Nature: As a company deeply connected to nature, we believe that preserving biodiversity is critical—not just for the environment but for the communities and supply chains that depend on it. That’s why we’re committed to comprehensive assessments, sustainable sourcing practices, and collaborations that drive system-wide change.
