Paul Farquharson, IT Assistant Manager, recently gave a presentation to tenth grade students at St. John's College about careers in tourism and his experiences working here at Nassau Cruise Port. The volunteer session was arranged as a part of the Junior Hotelier Programme of the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association, which Nassau Cruise Port recently joined. Paul shared, "This presentation was about more than showcasing job opportunities—it was about igniting their curiosity and helping the students envision how the world of travel and hospitality can be a fulfilling and dynamic career path. It's about empowering them with the knowledge that they can shape their own future in an industry that's always evolving." "Most people don't think about the impact that IT has on the tourism industry, but IT plays a crucial role in its transformation and evolution, from online booking systems to data analytics and virtual experiences. I enjoyed helping the students to see how technology is driving innovation and creating new possibilities and how they can become a part of that journey." Today, Nassau Cruise Port (NCP) is excited to celebrate Global Recycling Day by announcing the launch of its new ‘Cruisin’ Green’ sustainable waste management program. Through this highly anticipated initiative, NCP will engage tenants, vendors, employees, cruise lines, cruise passengers, and local visitors in creating a cleaner, greener environment by collecting and sorting cardboard, aluminum cans, glass, and paper products. We are committed to minimizing its environmental impact and playing a key role in promoting a more sustainable and eco-friendly future within the cruise industry and throughout The Bahamas. Yesterday, we welcomed 30,528 passengers - a new record! This milestone demonstrates that we are on course to surpass last year's record-setting performance. So far in 2025, we have exceeded the number of cruise calls year over year by an average of 15% per month and exceeded passenger numbers by an average of 12% per month. Yesterday, Nassau Cruise Port (NCP) and Arawak Port Development Limited (APD) held an exclusive luncheon in celebration of International Women’s Day. The goal of this special event was to honour the remarkable achievements of Bahamian women in the maritime and cruise industries under the theme “A Sea of Change: Women Accelerating Action.” The event brought together 85 influential women and students from NCP, APD, Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Bahamas Maritime Authority, the Port Department, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, Royal Caribbean Group Bahamas, LJM Maritime Academy, and other key stakeholder organizations together, providing an elevated platform for networking, collaboration, and empowerment.
