It's one thing to get to the top, and another to stay there.” The mindset of a champion is completely different from that of a challenger. I shared this message with our 2023 Mark of Excellence winners as we celebrated their incredible achievements with an unforgettable trip to Cape Town. These individuals have shown remarkable dedication and resilience, earning their place as 2023 award winners.
But now, as champions, their mindset must shift. It’s no longer about getting to the game, it’s all about staying in the game. It requires consistency, discipline, and humility. All champions have rituals and habits that they practice religiously and relentlessly. My challenge to them was simple:
1. Know yourself. Self awareness is the first step to personal transformation.
2. Once you know yourself, have the courage to be yourself. You perform at your best when you are in touch with who you are.
In most cases we don’t get to touch our own 100% because we are held back by fear of failure. Fear is just an imagination, we imagine things going wrong, the alternative is, we can use the same energy to imagine positive outcomes and that propels us into action.
As Joyce Meyer once said, “Fear is like a down payment for a problem that you may never have.” That’s a very wasteful approach to life.
Here's to our winners and to all our colleagues who are striving for greatness—On the other side of your fears lies your true potential. Be bold to pursue your growth ambitions in every area of your life.
Be Persistent, Be Consistent and Be Grateful.
