Ms. Mothibatsela said this recently at Purple Day, an occasion on which Botswana joins the international community in commemorating the International Epilepsy Day and increase awareness about epilepsy worldwide. Ms Mothibatsela said that the Botswana Theme for 2025 “WALKING FOR A PURPOSE, STAND UP FOR EPILEPSY” is designed to encourage and challenge everyone on how they handle people with epilepsy. “It is a clarion call for various stakeholders, government, private sector, schools, NGO’s, medical sector and all of us to take keen interest in knowing more and doing more about epilepsy”, she said. Ms. Mothibatsela implored Corporate Botswana to be more involved in promoting epilepsy awareness and supporting efforts to get conversations going about this condition. “There are workplace interventions that can be adopted to raise awareness and to equip employees with how to deal with colleagues living with epilepsy. We must take it upon ourselves as peers, supervisors and subordinates, to be protectors of our colleagues living with epilepsy”, she added. Debswana employees were amongst the walkers and attendants at the event, showing care towards a noble cause.
