DEBSWANA APPLAUDS BOTSWANA U20 ATHLETICS TEAM Debswana Executive Head of Corporate Affairs, Rachel Mothibatsela has applauded the Botswana Athletics team, who have just represented Botswana at the World Athletics Under 20 Championships in Lima, Peru. Speaking at the Welcome Ceremony for the team, Mothibatsela said that representing your country is a great achievement that the team should all be proud of. She further said that it is no easy feat to shoulder the hopes of an entire nation, especially in the wake of the groundbreaking and historic achievements we recently witnessed at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France. Mothibatsela also reminded the team that after each competition there are winners and learners. “Although you did not win at the Under 20 Championships, use this as a learning opportunity. We will all learn from this and will come back stronger. One learning does not define you, it is in fact how one utilizes the learning that they evolve into a champion. So I encourage you to remain determined as you regroup and refocus.” She further reminded the team that the everyone is looking forward to them representing Botswana in more international competitions. “I am sure your passion, zeal and dedication will take you places, dream big, the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028 are just around the corner.”

For his part, Jwaneng Mine Acting Senior Safety and Sustainable Development (S&SD) Manager, Edwin Mmotlanyane said, “This competition symbolises Jwaneng Mine’s commitment to first aid in the workplace.
