Congratulations to the European Association for Accident Research & Analysis (#EVU) for hosting their 32nd Annual Congress in Kufstein, Austria. With such a well organized and interesting event, it is not surprising to see it so well attended. Not only did I enjoy presenting our paper on Pole/Tree Impacts and attending all of the other presentations, but it was an excellent opportunity to meet and share ideas with other collision reconstructionists from all over Europe. And thanks again to my co-authors Mark Fabbroni, Nicholas Young and Greg Prentice, P.Eng.. With so many great papers, I was pleasantly surprised that we were ranked 2nd best paper from the technical reviewers, but that was certainly thanks to such a great team effort.

This summer’s devastating wildfire in the Municipality of Jasper and Jasper National Park resulted in over $880 million in insured damage, according to initial estimates from Catastrophe Indices and Quantification Inc. (CatIQ). The sudden and intense #wildfire, which began on July 22, damaged or destroyed a third of the community, making it the second most expensive wildfire in Alberta’s history in insured losses.
