CEO, Author (Don't Blame the Lettuce, The Culture Question), Host (ACHIEVE Workplace Culture Podcast), Speaker, Facilitator at ACHIEVE & CTRI
Join me tomorrow for a live webinar with ACHIEVE Centre for Leadership, where I’ll present four foundational principles every manager and leader should bring to their work with teams. Many leaders step into management without ever learning these core principles, making success feel like a constant challenge. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I’ll share what we’ve found to be essential for effective team leadership, offering each principle as a question you can ask yourself to stay focused on what matters most. Hope to see you there!

Mark Schinkel's blog examines how leadership is perceived by those they lead, and what employees need to thrive. 🌟 Some Key Points from the Blog: 1️⃣ The measure of our leadership isn’t ascertained by assessing our checklist of leadership traits and actions. 2️⃣ We are placed into leadership roles to support the successful fulfilment of our organization’s purpose. 3️⃣ The fundamental question to be asked by leaders is, ‘How do I want to be experienced by the people I lead?' 📖 Explore these insights and more in the blog for a fresh perspective on leadership: https://bit.ly/3BZgowu

In today's hybrid work environment, fostering psychological safety isn't just a nice-to-have—it's essential for team success and innovation. Here are 5 practical and effective strategies for creating a safe, inclusive environment, regardless of where your team works: Stay Connected Intentionally Gone are the days of casual office check-ins. Now we need to be deliberate about connection. Schedule regular 1:1s, celebrate wins (big and small), and make time for meaningful feedback. Remember: physical distance shouldn't create emotional distance. Champion Diverse Perspectives Each team member brings unique insights shaped by their experiences. Make it a practice to actively seek out different viewpoints, especially from those who might hesitate to speak up in virtual settings. Some of our best innovations have come from combining diverse perspectives. Transform Your Language In digital communication, words carry extra weight. Replace competitive or harsh language with supportive phrases. Instead of "Who's responsible for this mistake?" try "What can we learn from this situation?" Proactively Seek Feedback Don't assume you know what support your team needs—ask directly. Whether it's adjusting meeting times for different time zones or providing new collaboration tools, showing responsiveness to team needs builds trust and engagement. Embrace Learning Through Mistakes Create an environment where experimentation is encouraged and mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities. As leaders, when we openly share our own learning moments, we give permission for others to do the same. What strategies have you found effective in building psychological safety in your hybrid workplace? We'd love to hear about your experiences below. #WorkplaceCulture #PsychologicalSafety #HybridWork #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement
