    Did you know the term “soft skills” originated from the U.S. military in the 1960s? It was used to highlight the importance of interpersonal and leadership skills alongside technical expertise, often referred to as “hard skills.” Since then, the term has also been adopted by business and educational sectors, among others.  In his book Hidden Potential, organizational psychologist Adam Grant suggests a more accurate term would be “character skills” – traits such as empathy, integrity and resilience that are crucial for long-term success and growth while also fostering positive relationships and collaboration in the workplace.
