Congratulations to Premier Doug Ford and his incoming cabinet on forming their third provincial government. As the provincial government tackles political threats, tariffs and trade wars, municipalities want to do their part. We look forward to working with the Ontario Government to leverage our $68-billion sector to protect our economies and our communities. Congratulations as well to Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Rob Flack and Assoc. Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Graydon Smith and Rural Affairs Minister Lisa Thompson. Together, we can strengthen Ontario’s communities. https://lnkd.in/gGmVbBah

Strategic federal and provincial investments in municipal infrastructure is proven to stimulate the economy across all parts of the province. Investments in community housing, specifically, would preserve jobs in the residential construction sector while also supporting our long-term prosperity by filling major gaps in the housing market. With or without a trade war, investing to expand housing options is good for Ontarians and good for business. Read here: https://lnkd.in/g9W5vRzw #onmuni #housing #tradewars #tariff

"We have an environment that is respectful. Everyone is encouraged to bring their full thoughts and best selves to the table. And because of that, I think we have such robust discussion and debate and make the best decisions for the community." Rural Ontario Municipal Association Chair Christa Lowry shares her experience on Municipality of Mississippi Mills Council and underscores that respect is a cornerstone of a #healthydemocracy #weallwin #respectindemocracy
Mayor of Mississippi Mills | Chair of the Rural Ontario Municipal Association | Community Builder | Rural Advocate
Three thoughts on International Women’s Day: 1️⃣ Be the supporter, ally, and mentor to help women realize their potential - particularly in spaces where, traditionally, women have not been encouraged. 2️⃣ What a privilege it is to be Mayor in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills! It is an equal privilege to sit at the table with Councillor Bev Holmes, Councillor Vicki Lowe, Councillor Mary Lou Souter, and Councillor Jane Torrance. It is very rare to have 5 women at the horseshoe of a 7 member Council! 3️⃣ This is an incredible moment in the history of municipal politics across the province as virtually all of the major municipal associations are currently led by women, and supported by women in senior staff roles. It is an honour to be the Chair of the Rural Ontario Municipal Association and an inspiration to work alongside: ⭐️ Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) President Robin Jones ⭐️Ontario's Big City Mayors (OBCM) Chair Marianne Meed Ward (C.Dir.) ⭐️Western Ontario Wardens' Caucus Chair Amy Martin ⭐️ Eastern Ontario Wardens' Caucus Chair Bonnie Clark ⭐️Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association President Wendy Landry ⭐️ Mayors and Regional Chairs of Ontario Chair Karen Redmond And finally, it is not easy to put your name on the ballot. And it doesn’t get any easier once you win a seat at the table! So thank you to those who have encouraged me and to those who continue to support me today. Here’s to healthy democracy! Happy International Women’s Day. #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInLeadership #SupportHer #MuniPoli #MississippiMills
