“In particular, the potential role of nuclear energy in achieving net-zero emissions was a recurring topic. Numerous respondents advocated for a deeper exploration of how nuclear power, including small modular reactors (SMRs), could contribute to Canada’s energy mix.”
We asked, and you responded! We’re excited to share the “What We Heard” report, summarizing the key themes and comments from our June 2024 Discussion Paper: https://ow.ly/w9b650TRa98. Your invaluable input on the modelling, methodology, and assumptions for the next Canada’s Energy Future report is shaping our analysis. A huge thank you to everyone who provided input on the potential options. Your insights are helping us set the scope.

The first module of Atlantica Centre for Energy’s Energy Fundamentals for Leaders program thru University of New Brunswick was a success! Students from many sectors and in diverse roles learned about the Electricity Grid, the natural gas system, the utility model, nuclear, renewables and hydrogen, refined petroleum products and so much more! Topped off with a an applied learning activity about Clean Tech with Neil Jacobsen and a tour of the Irving Oil Refinery this morning, I’d say it was a jammed packed 2.5 days! We have an engaged group this year asking thoughtful questions! I’m looking forward to next months module about the economics of energy lead by David Campbell!
