  • Celebrating our Irish ties 🍀 From our Irving Oil refinery in Whitegate, Co. Cork, to our dedicated Top Oil team across Ireland, we wish all our employees, customers and communities for a wonderful day filled with joy and luck. To celebrate with our friends on both sides of the Atlantic, we lit our Saint John refinery in festive green. Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit - Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! 🌈

  • "Challenge the status quo — it’s the only way to grow." 🖥️☁️ For Andre Melanson, Senior Manager of IT Infrastructure & Services at Irving Oil, the past few years have been transformative. Since joining the company two and a half years ago, he has focused on driving the evolution of our systems, strengthening our security and helping leaders with the tools they need to succeed. "Working behind the scenes is a constant adventure. Every day brings a new opportunity to learn, innovate and push the boundaries of what might not have been possible the day before,” Andre says. From troubleshooting critical systems to planning for the future, the team helps make our systems stable, secure and ready to meet the demands of an increasingly digital workplace. Our Infrastructure team is expanding! We’re looking for innovators who think outside the box, have sharp analytical skills and seek opportunities to pioneer change. • From shore to ocean floor 🐟🌊 As an Offshore Operator Diver with our company, Andy Melanson and his team handle the safe and efficient offload of crude to our facilities at Irving Canaport. Diving 150 feet deep into the Bay of Fundy, Andy performs maintenance on our Monobuoy unit, which delivers product to our onshore storage tanks through a subsea pipeline — a process that can take up to 30 hours while navigating the changing tides. "I always think of how lucky I am to see parts of the world very few others do," he says. Under the surface, Andy often sees local sea life like lobsters and seals, while above the waves, he enjoys sharing stories with the international crews aboard the offloading ships. Through all the adventures, what has been most important is finding meaningful work close to home. "Working at Irving Oil has been a dream. Having opportunities like this right in your neighbourhood means more time for family." Thank you, Andy, and to our entire team at Canaport, for your dedication — ensuring the safe and reliable operations of our business.

  • Confidence is key ⭐🔑 That's what Morgan McDougall, a Facility Technician, learned when she joined our Saint John refinery team immediately after graduation. "Starting my career in an industrial setting, I worked alongside people with more than 30 years of experience, and they were eager to help me learn," she says. With the guidance of strong mentors and supportive colleagues, Morgan’s team has continuously encouraged her. From minor maintenance projects to major refinery turnarounds, the opportunities to challenge herself have been endless. "I dove in head first and gained meaningful experience," she says. “With an open mind, a desire to learn and a strong work ethic — qualities I learned from the many strong women in my life — I believe you can achieve more than you ever thought possible." This International Women’s Day, and every day, we share our appreciation for the inspiring women at Irving Oil who continue to advocate for and support one another as we strive for diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces for all. Thank you to all of the incredible women across our business for everything you do.

  • "Challenge yourself to advocate for others whenever possible." For Jennifer Close, our Logistics and Supply Chain Coordinator based in Portsmouth, NH, building a 13-year career with our company has been about working together as a team — giving back to others the same way she has been supported over the years. "Early in my career, I was privileged to have incredible leaders to help me advocate for myself, which I now strive to do for others," she says. Jennifer plays a critical role in supporting our bulk plant operations across both New England and Eastern Canada, allowing a secure and reliable supply of product for our customers. "I have to make a lot of on-the-spot decisions. Building my confidence over the years has made that easier, which also helps my team more efficiently serve our customers," she says. This International Women’s Day, and every day, we share our appreciation for the inspiring women at Irving Oil who continue to advocate for and support one another as we strive for diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces for all. Thank you, Jennifer, for everything you do for our teams, customers and communities.

  • "It's an honour to be Black and to be here." Originating from Lagos, Nigeria, Felicia Akioya came to Canada to complete her master of business administration degree at University of New Brunswick. After graduating in 2021, she joined our Internal Audit team and was soon promoted to Senior Auditor. "Anyone who joins our team is someone we want to help grow — and I was no different," Felicia says. Her team embraced learning about her culture, sharing traditional Nigerian food and engaging with her stories of home. "I notice when others take a moment to understand my perspective. If we all make a point to do that for others, it can enrich our connections and help us value the diversity around us." For Felicia, Black History Month serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who came before her. "It speaks to human resilience and determination to always push forward," she says. As we reflect on the value of a diverse workplace, we are grateful to Felicia and to all of our teams for sharing their stories, helping us to embrace all cultures and perspectives — today and every day.

  • Congratulations to the inaugural recipients of the Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation Scholarship at St. Thomas University (CA), in memory of our former Chairman, Arthur Irving. We are inspired by your hard work and dedication.

Sydney VanWart, Emily Singleton and Mallory Thompson were selected as the inaugural recipients of the Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation Scholarship, which covers their full tuition and is renewable over four years.   This new entrance scholarship at STU is generously funded by the Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation and Irving Oil in honour of former St. Thomas University President Dawn Russell. It also recognizes Arthur Irving’s lifetime of dedication to education. Mr. Irving was a visionary and extraordinary leader who passed away in May of 2024. The scholarship represents his steadfast commitment to community and supporting students in Atlantic Canada.     Sydney VanWart – Fredericton, NB Sydney VanWart says receiving the Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation Scholarship means she can focus on her studies, instead of worrying about how she will fund her education. “Hard work has always been so important to me, in school and outside of school, so to be recognized in this way has been incredibly meaningful.” At STU, she hopes to major in Psychology and Criminology with a minor in Communications and Public Policy.   “Taking part in the University Now program was a big part of the reason that I chose STU to continue my academic journey,” she said. “STU has continued to be full of positives for me. I feel so excited to continue learning and growing within the STU community.”   Emily Singleton – Quispamsis, NB Emily Singleton says receiving the Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation Scholarship opened the doors to opportunities she never knew could be available to her. At STU, she is studying Psychology with the goal of becoming a child psychologist. “I’ve always heard that the St. Thomas community is extremely supportive of their students and strive for their successes. This fact has lowered my stress immensely and I have realized that I could have access to many amazing resources as a student at STU.” Mallory Thompson – St. Stephen, NB Mallory said receiving the Arthur L. Irving Family Foundation Scholarship meant she was able to attend university with less financial stress. “This scholarship also serves as motivation to put my best work into every single one of my classes,” she said. “Because of this, I am truly grateful for receiving this scholarship.” At STU, Mallory plans to major in Psychology but is also interested in Criminology and Fine Arts. She hopes to pursue grad school after STU to become a therapist and return to work in her hometown. “When I was applying to universities, I applied to St. Thomas first and got accepted. I was so thrilled; I did not even bother applying anywhere else. I love STU because it feels so tight knit, and it will give me the opportunity to meet new and interesting people along my journey.”

  • February is Heart Month—a time to remind us of the importance of heart health and to support research that could improve treatment and care. At Irving Oil, we encourage our teams to take care of their physical and mental well-being, whether at home or work. For Nick Huggard, a Rail Fleet Coordinator, that means using his lunch hours to walk his dog, Tillie, making fresh air and exercise a priority each day. To mark this important month, we are donating two dollars for every dollar contributed by our employees to Heart & Stroke, American Heart Association and Irish Heart Foundation. These donations help fund the work of our national heart associations in our communities, preventing and treating heart disease. Let's all take a moment today to improve our heart health.❤️
