Atlantic Towing Limited and Svitzer, are jointly investing in two new escort tugboats in order to modernize the Port of Halifax / Port d'Halifax fleet. Over the past decade, the Port of Halifax has experienced a significant increase in both the number of tug jobs and the size of vessels calling at the port. Innovation is a key part of our business. Our teams are always finding new ways to streamline costs, improve safety performance and optimize our processes. Atlantic Towing detects defects in the equipment on their vessels by analyzing vibration and temperature data. The vessels have over 75 sensors that send data back to land for analysis. Atlantic Towing also uses analytical tools, like acceleration trends for early detection of defects in the equipment. The data informs the team which equipment needs preventative maintenance - meaning less downtime for the vessel and reduced repair costs. Supporting offshore wind 🌎 The Atlantic Kestrel and Atlantic Merlin have both been on the scene for the installation of floating wind projects in the North Sea. The Atlantic Kestrel supported the installation of a floating wind test project off the coast of Aberdeen, Scotland. Prior to that, the Atlantic Merlin assisted on the same project by towing one of the floating bases to the site where it was handed over to the Atlantic Kestrel. #RenewableEnergyDay #WindTurbine
