The ARA participated in a meeting with government representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy to advance discussions on extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs for handling lithium batteries and promoting the recycling of windshields and plastic bumpers. These are important first steps to ensure government awareness and support for programs that drive industry sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Advocacy is a key pillar of the ARA’s Insurance Quality Recycled Parts Program. Our goal is to push for policy changes that encourage the use of recycled parts in insurance claims, benefiting both the environment and the industry. By working closely with government bodies and industry stakeholders, the ARA aims to create a stronger voice for recyclers and repairers, driving forward sustainable practices that support the future of automotive repair. Through over a decade of dedicated efforts, the ARA has achieved significant progress for Impound Lot Operators (ILOs), ensuring fair and equitable treatment within the industry. These advancements address the majority of challenges within the ILO program, demonstrating the power of strategic, sustained representation. The Automotive Retailers Association (ARA) is proud to announce a major milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance the Impound Lot Operators (ILO) program. RoadSafetyBC (RSBC) has introduced significant updates, including new rates and crucial administrative changes, that directly address many of the challenges our industry has faced over the years. These advancements are the result of over a decade of dedicated advocacy by the ARA, ensuring that ILOs receive fair and equitable treatment. These changes resolve the majority of issues in the ILO program, demonstrating the power of consistent, strategic advocacy.
