Today, we celebrated the spooky season with a costume contest, mummy wrapping challenge, and plenty of tricks and treats! We loved seeing everyone’s commitment and creativity. Happy Halloween!

Congratulations to the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation for another successful Autumn Gala! Our team is proud to be a part of the Foundation’s mission to revitalize Vancouver's beloved Chinatown community. We had a wonderful evening celebrating the work that you do alongside sponsors, donors, guests, and volunteers. Special thank you to our team of volunteers for spending their afternoon preparing for the event and contributing to the evening's festivities. It was a night filled with insightful conversation and generosity. This year, we completed construction at Bob & Michael’s Place, providing 231 new independent living homes and a 50,000-square-foot integrated health centre that serves the entire Downtown Eastside. The completion of this project highlights the importance of industry collaboration and is a testament to the commitment of Carol Lee and the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. This summer we celebrated the groundbreaking of two new rental communities in Vancouver alongside our partner Intracorp Homes! Vine & West 49th and Arbutus & West 34th are among the first purpose-built rental projects to be completed under the City’s Secured Rental Policy, providing housing choices to support a diverse population. Arbutus & West 34th comprises two 5-storey buildings, while the Vine & West 49th site will feature a 5-storey building and a 3-storey townhome block. Collectively, the two wood-frame developments will deliver 305 much-needed secured rental homes to Vancouver’s westside, while providing access to nature, transit, community services, and new amenities. With the construction of both projects underway, we look forward to bringing these projects to life!

Last year, one of our site teams participated in an accessibility workshop with Jobs West, a division of the Developmental Disabilities Association, to learn more about disability awareness and accommodation in the workplace. Inspired by the workshop, the team partnered with Jobs West to create a custom employment position on-site, and welcomed Kieran to the Ashley Mar project team! We are grateful for this opportunity and have learned a lot from this experience. As an organization, we’re always striving to do better and create an environment where everyone feels included, respected, and valued. It’s an honour to be chosen as Jobs West’s Employer of the Year. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to volunteer at the Union Gospel Mission (Vancouver)’s annual Thanksgiving lunch for our second year! Volunteers worked alongside UGM staff to provide a special Thanksgiving experience to nearly 3,000 community members at their Downtown Eastside and New Westminster locations. Together, we prepared and served 2,200 pounds of turkey, 800 pounds of mashed potatoes, 500 pies, and more! World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to raise awareness and support mental wellness. This year's theme, "Mental Health at Work" highlights the crucial connection between mental health and work – a topic that resonates deeply with us. At Axiom Builders, our goal is to foster a positive and transparent environment where people feel comfortable seeking support. As part of our commitment to continually learning and improving health and wellness in our workplace, this year we invested in additional mental health resources, offering unlimited counselling and hosting a series of mental health focused sessions for our team. We appreciate everyone’s continued effort in creating a safe and healthy workplace. That's a wrap! This week, the ICBA Construction Innovation Summit welcomed over 700 industry leaders to explore the latest trends, innovations, and perspectives shaping the future of construction. The economic climate, robotics in construction, data and AI, and technology adoption in our workplaces were among the many insightful topics discussed.
