We encourage you to take a moment and check out this quiz that highlights some amazing Black Canadians, cultures and places in honour of Emancipation Day—the day in 1834 when slavery became illegal in Canada and across the Commonwealth. The first time Emancipation Day was recognized federally was on August 1, 2021, but it’s been marked in communities across Canada for more than 150 years. BLG is proud to support organizations like the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, the Black Law Students' Association of Canada and the Black Female Lawyers Network. With the guidance of our Race Action Committee and D&I Council, we are dedicated to combating anti-Black racism and all forms of discrimination while supporting Black members within the firm and across the legal profession in Canada. #EmancipationDay #DiversityInLaw
