Blackcomb Helicopters

I am humbled to accept an award on behalf of my teams, @ssarteam and @blackcombhelicopters for a highly technical rescue of two individuals whom had suffered high acuity traumatic injuries from a rockfall while climbing the #squamish #chief . This his serves as a neverending reminder of the daily miracle that is volunteer SAR within the Province of BC, Canada. On a 24/7 basis at any given time, there's someone sorting gear, training, administrating, maintaining vehicles, planning/organizing... ontop of responding. I am merely a conduit with which this award is represented to that endeavor. The people directly responsible for the positive outcome of this call includes the pilot, reconnaissance technicians, as well as support members on the ground, including our @bcehs paramedics and @squamishfirerescue. I of course must make a special outreach of gratitude to the two climbers who arrived onscene to help, I'll also keep your names anonymous, however the two of you were absolutely crucial to the outcome. The story; these subjects were climbing the bulletheads of the stawamus chief, and both were struck by a dislodged boulder, causing significant polytrauma. They remained attached to the wall, one partway through their pitch, and the other connected to the belay station. Their rescue required a complex hybrid of rope rescue and helicopter pick-off, which took a considerable amount of time. @canadianwildmed #cawm2024 #halifax

Had the pleasure of presenting with Chris Haslock from Blackcomb Helicopters at this year's Airbus Helicopters Utility Summit in Vancouver, just prior to the annual Helicopter Association of Canada conference. We were able to show to the over 100+ operators the revolutionary technology of the Loft Dynamics H125 simulator, the first VR simulator approved by EASA and the FAA, as well as how Blackcomb has been leveraging their simulator to greatly improve training for their operators and other third parties. Many thanks to Airbus Helicopters for allowing us to be part of such a great and informative event!

🚗 The VCM team has been on the road a lot lately, meeting with community partners, sharing updates, and finding ways to support each other. 🍂 Last week, we spent time in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, meeting with Tourism Whistler (we promise we were there, we just forgot to take a pic!), Tourism Pemberton and Lillooet Chamber of Commerce. We were reminded of how beautiful fall road trips could be! 🚁 We’ve never been to a meeting where a surprise helicopter ride was involved, so huge thanks to Tourism Pemberton and Blackcomb Helicopters for making magic happen. THE helicopter event of the year in Canada is fast approaching. Working to close the gap in #FlightSafety - Flight operations experts are discussing challenges and problems of cold weather operations at the Technical Advisory Committee Meeting in #Calgary. Especially in Canada, prevailing weather conditions present enormous challenges to crews and equipment and require special approaches to ensuring sufficient levels of flight safety. A forum like BARS Program’s #TAC is just the right opportunity to exchange best practices and find answers to lots of pressing questions.   A big Thank You to the experts on stage Chris Haslock (Blackcomb Helicopters), Sean Rickards of (Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd.), JJ Gerber (Cougar Helicopters Inc.), Olivier Richer (Nolinor Aviation), Jason Young (North Star Air), Corey Taylor (Mustang Helicopters Inc.) and the moderators Paola Hansson (Teck Resources Limited) and Robert Donnelly (Freeport-McMoRan).
