Quick points and quotes from the Powerhouse women on the panel yesterday at Intuit's Women Wealth Wisdom IWD/WHM event. Reach out to me for reasons why your company should host such events or send your employees to such events. 1) Only 48% of women are encouraged to be financial literate in their households. As parents and future parents, we can and should change this. 2) It's important to teach young boys about the role they can play and the roles they should not play in a women's journey to financial independence. 3) Everyone's experience with financial literacy is a little different. Don't be intimated by money, the stock market etc. Just ask for help, or get a financial advisor! 4) Making a million dollars isn't so hard if you have a strong financial plan reverse engineer it and iterate until YOU GET THERE then scale to it to multi-millions. 5) Female bosses: Failing and Pivoting is essential to play the long game. 6) You can't make a million dollars off events. Put something online that scales 7) "You are not alone look around the room" 8) "when I grow I want to grow other women around me" 9) "ask for help" 10) "as an immigrant I don't have family here so other women are my community/family" 11) "we are here to help others" 12) "You have to open up... Tell people you are struggling or you are always going to be alone ... Everyone is going think you have already made it... Ask for help or your going to be alone" 13) Women are not meant to feel the same every day, show up the same, and work at the same capacity everyday "I love what I do, but I burn out I love to work but I can put that energy on other things to calm down Breathing exercises, long walks, Journaling" 14) Sometimes magic happens when you do nothing. Your not going to resolve these issues overnight. Give yourself the permission to give yourself moments of joy. 15) Debt: at which point do you take it on as a female entrepreneur? Make sure you are there 100%. Feel it in your heart and gut. Can be scary... The government like BDC and certain banks will match if you are incorporated. If you have a financial dashboard with revenue going up but not going up high enough and you have the opportunity of a lifetime and you need the $$ to scale: take on debt. So don't borrow money to pay of debts or bail your family out off a crisis... borrow money for opportunities. Don't fall into predatory loans etc. 16) Income stability for immigrant women from conflict zones and Underemployment is a thing. Ukraine & Congo etc. Decreasing financial dependency on your husband can be a challenge. GOD IS GOOD AND THINGS ARE GOING TO WORK OUT FOR YOU. 17) Financial literacy is key to achieving financial independence. Be courageous be vulnerable Build that network. Get that success and get a financial adviso Intuit Blink Equity Total Mom Inc. How can you be a better ally to colleagues in the muslim community? On February 27th, 2024 Blink Equity partnered with Intuit Canada to celebrate Black History Month and usher in Women's History Month(US) and #IWD2024(Canada). The event, titled the Shades of Success: An SOS for the intersectional women in tech & beyond, was indeed a success. We had the opportunity to delve into the legal origins and definitions of "Intersectionality" as coined by Kimberlé Krenshaw to describe how race, class, gender, and other individual characteristics “intersect” with one another and overlap. Coined nearly 30 years ago, the term was originally created to highlight the unique experiences of Black Women in the workplace and has broadened to include the experiences of women of colour, immigrant women, and women of different religious backgrounds among other groups. As we join colleagues who are observing Ramadan, we encourage you to pause and reflect on how you can be a better ally to members of the muslim community. Happy Ramadan and a huge thank you to partners and sponsors. You make the hard work of diversity equity and inclusion all the more possible. This week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend an empowering event: Shades of Success by Blink Equity and Intuit. It was an inspiring occasion filled with meaningful conversations and valuable networking opportunities. Reflecting on the insights, the one that resonated with me is the importance of pausing to recognize the power of making others feel seen and heard, acknowledging the opinions of those around us, standing up for those who may struggle to express themselves, and promoting an environment of inclusivity where every voice matters and every individual feels #visible. Hats off to everyone involved and some awesome people I met at the event, especially Pako Tshiamala for his warm welcome, and positive attitude. You're doing an amazing job! Also, a special mention to Kerry-Ann Lewis for her inherent ability to listen to others and empower them. 💙

DEI Champion |Top Voice for Gender Equity & Inclusion|Public Speaker| I help Organizations create an inclusive workplace culture.

I was at Intuit again for the 2nd time🎉. It's always a pleasure being at intuit, everyone kept asking me if I worked at Intuit and I was like ‘Not yet’😉. The event was about ‘Intersectionality for black women’ and we had amazing speakers, Krissy Doyle-Thomas Cecilia Barnes Amy Sylla (She/Her/Elle) Sarah Saska, PhD. And y'all know how much I champion inclusion here…. So I definitely had to be there….. My key takeaways were: 🔺Learning to build authentic relationships with co-workers. 🔺Always use your voice to uplift people in rooms where you have the privilege. 🔺Appreciate your co-workers when they come up with ideas. 🔺Inclusion isn't just about allyship but it goes down to policy formation and change managements Yes we talk the talk, but let's walk the walk…… Thank you Intuit and Blink Equity for this amazing program. Thank you for championing black women and amplifying our voices in rooms we never imagined we would grace. I even met amazing people Fikayo Aderoju CSM, CSPO and the delectable ever amazing Krystle Gibson. I hope y'all enjoyed the takeaways Share with your network and don't forget to follow for more.…. #inclusionanddiversity #intersectionalfeminism #linkedintopvoice
