Here’s a look at the elevator room featuring a traction elevator at the ground floor, which appears to be part of the original construction dating back to 1991. The longevity and reliability of this system speak to the quality of the initial installation, but it’s important to evaluate its ongoing performance and potential for upgrades to meet current standards. #ElevatorSystems #BuildingMaintenance #OriginalConstruction #FacilityManagement #BuildingUpgrades #ConstructionHistory #ElevatorSafety #BuildingInfrastructure

We often notice geometric patterns in the snow covering flat roofs during our work. Did you know these patterns can indicate an inefficient building envelope, leading to higher energy costs? The patterning you see is caused by the insulation boards beneath the gravel on the roof, which are typically butted together. Where insulation boards are monolithic, heat retention is optimal, and the snow remains undisturbed. However, where joints exist, heat is lost, causing localized melting of the snow. When installing roofs, it’s crucial that insulation board joints are offset to reduce these heat losses and lower your energy bills. While winter may be inconvenient for most, it’s an excellent time for us to qualitatively assess the energy performance of your building. #EnergyEfficiency #BuildingEnvelope #RoofingSolutions #WinterInspection #EnergySavings #BuildingPerformance #Insulation #SustainableBuilding #EnergyManagement #RoofingBestPractices

Does painting the stairwell prevent water leakage? No. During a recent site visit, the client informed us that they had observed leakage on the underside of the stairs. In an effort to resolve the issue, they painted the stairs, hoping to stop further water infiltration. However, the leakage continued even after painting. This is because painting does not address the underlying cause of water penetration. If you are experiencing similar issues or would like to explore more effective waterproofing solutions, feel free to contact us for expert guidance. #Waterproofing #LeakPrevention #BuildingMaintenance #StructuralIntegrity #WaterDamage #ConstructionSolutions #FacilityManagement

Ever wondered why this parking garage has such a high ceiling? It’s because the suspended P1 slab has been demolished as part of a major structural rehabilitation project. Removing this slab exposes key structural elements, allowing for essential reinforcement and upgrades. Next steps? Preparing the area for new structural components to ensure long-term durability and stability. #StructuralRehabilitation #ConcreteDemolition #BuildingStronger #ConstructionProgress #InfrastructureUpgrade #BuildingSafety #ConstructionInnovation

Recent weather in southern Ontario has created the ideal conditions for ice damming. When attics aren’t properly insulated, vented, or have air barrier issues, heat from the interior space can warm the roof. This causes snow to melt, and the water re-freezes when it reaches the cold perimeter of the roof overhangs, forming ice dams. You’ll typically notice this as large icicles along the roof’s edge and troughs. Are you seeing icicles form on your roof? #IceDamming #RoofingIssues #AtticInsulation #BuildingMaintenance #WinterWeather #EnergyEfficiency #HomeImprovement #OntarioWinter

We were on-site near Owen Sound, observing the collapse of this older wood pole barn. The structure had a significant lean, a result of "racking" — when a building lacks adequate lateral support. In this case, the horizontal installation of wood tongue and groove plank sheathing provided minimal lateral resistance. Had the planks been installed at an angle, it could have significantly increased the building’s resistance and potentially prevented this collapse. #BuildingCollapse #StructuralIntegrity #SnowLoad #ConstructionSafety #LateralSupport #BuildingDesign #OntarioSnow #ConstructionInsights

B&B was on-site participating in a 3D scan of an old garage parkade—where the original drawings were long lost! Thanks to LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology, we can now recreate highly detailed digital models with unmatched precision and speed. From mapping terrains to inspecting infrastructure and creating digital twins, LiDAR is transforming the way we capture and analyze spaces. #LiDAR #3DScanning #DigitalTwins #TechInConstruction #InfrastructureInspection #BuildingTechnology #Innovation #DigitalModeling #ConstructionExcellence
